I wish to applaud the clarification - It cleans up a potentially tricky situation of combat.

Thank you!

Theoretically I should be getting into town at a decent hour. I'm driving back solo (sobs). If anybody is interested in a Dogs Mini pickup game Thu night, say something. I've got to be there for a variety of minor admin, table coordinating functions.

OK, thread necromancy. But perhaps apposite given the historicon uncertainty.

Seven Springs: isolated but excellent. It's the middle of muddlefuck nowhere (or as one of my PA friends corrected, "on the eastern outskirts of muddlefuck nowhere"). So no real options for dining or accommodation* except on site. Certainly not between games.

However: spacious (much more event space than the Host, I believe at least double), in excellent shape, well-maintained, on-site owners and management who were very responsive. WBC had a one-year deal with options; immediately after the first year they/we signed up for the next decade. It *is* more expensive than if one is doing things on the cheap elsewhere; but the overwhelming consensus is/was that it's a winner. I'll be there again next week; feel free to ask any Qs if there's interest.

(*Yes, it's possible to drive in each day, and you can save $$ by doing so, but much much more inconvenient than Lancaster or Fredericksburg.)

Thanks for the update. When I made my original observations about space, I was going by what the Host advertised as available floor space and what SS was advertising as floor space.

Yeah, your uber-stereotypical cheap historical miniatures wargamer would want to stay in Somerset and drive the 30 minutes of windy, back roads to get to the resort. Actually, said person wouldn't go at all just because of that drive. And the room cost would keep them away otherwise.

But it'll never happen in the first place. Doubly so after HMGS's experience in Fredericksburg. Again, the people who refuse to drive any distance that's infinitesimally greater than what they drive to the Host will in no way a) drive a similar distance to SS, and b) pay tolls in order to do so.

I'd love it if they moved to SS because it would shave 2-3 hours off my drive. But then I'm not HMGS's target customer in this case.

Of course if the flow of money into renovating the Host continues, it might turn into something decent enough. That being said, we've gotten spoiled at Fredericksburg in terms of space availability.
