Hi All,
Last friday we had a game 2000pts Vs 2000 pts Hannibal Vs Romans in 15mm

Hannibal lost and went back to Carthage.
We faced a special case and we don't know if we played it right: In the attached file, I tried to make the drawing.
The unit B and D are Roman, A and C are Carthaginian.
B declares a charge on A., In the same time, A and C declare a charge on B.
C is a LI unit charging from a wood (but already known by Romans).
As they can contact on the flank of B, they have to conform to the edge but it is a unit with 10 stands (4 in front) and with the added move, they are supposed to contact D.
As it is a little bit "special" (the move is quite important for the stand supposded to contact D), we decided that the contact should not be done and therefore, we stopped the stand some paces before contact.
What are your comments ?
Thank you |

First, C is *not* "supposed to contact D" since it doesn't have the movement to do so.
That point aside, how you did this was correct. Look closely at page 45, second column, #2. That applies here in that D is a body that prevents the pivoting to conform. You move C into contact, leave it there (do not pivot--it stops movement the instant the corner of C hits B), treat it as if it's conformed. The second bullet point in that section explicitly states this.
Now, I know the follow on question is what happens if B recoils. Again, don't move C any more than warranted. B would recoil back and slightly angled to the left. A and C would remain in contact in their same relative positions. It's doubtful that such a move would bring C into contact with D.
Remember, you can't pivot to conform if that means contacting another body. In this case, C might not ever pivot to conform assuming nothing happens to D's location.
