So with the teams at Cold Wars being Dark age theme I have been looking at the armies, and many of them are quite interesting. I have always wanted to run Saxon Huscarls - so may wel go with anglo Norman, or Saxon. Big blocks of tough foot with fronts of HI, 2HCW sh, then jls back rank - but wondered what other thoughts on lists were and why.

Boran Norse Irish. I've always thought it was the most extreme expression of a Dark Age list, but fares poorly in a world with heavily armored cavalry. In period, it has a lot to offer.

My Anglo-Danish list at 1600 is pretty good. I have the Fyrd blocks hyper optimized.

I'm not so sure if it'll scale upwards.

Um, Anglo-Norman won't be among the lists in the tourney. Never was under consideration.

Was looking last night =- on first look I thought you could do Norman with a good saxon contingent (not anglo-norman ) but norman with saxon foot - not so much - but yes I do like the Anglo Danish, and some of the welsh lists, want big shieldwall blocks and hope to last the saxon HTW shock and wear them down - not sure it will work though
