I'm sorry if these have already been answered but couldn't find them in archives.

1) Can you flank march a unit and its detatchment as a single unit (ie without a general)?

2) If you are charging two bodies one of which evades while the other stands your move becomes variable. Can you fail to contact the standing body as a result of rolling a 1 or 2 for your variable move.

Thanks

martin

1) The rules says: "Detachments must flank march if their
parent does and cannot flank march unless the parent does."

2) A charge move is only variable if all of its targets evade. If one stands, that's who gets contacted.

Thanks for confirming #2. I've always felt it was clear and have ruled that way over the years but I'd say at least once a year (either at CW or Hcon), somebody asks me about that.

Scrolling through ancient flank march posts...

Martin's question is not quite answered by Jon here. Jon is correct that if a parent or a detachment flank march, the other must flank march.

However, a parent and a detachment, even though 1 body when attached to each other, are still 2 units...and thus a parent with detachment can only flank march as part of a command entire...with a general.
