Jon,

Roman with HTW, JLS, SH, that count 1HCW in 2nd rd of combat.

Question: In the 2nd round of combat, do I have the choice of using JLS + other
weapons ( without a JLS + ) or using 1HCW only, depending on the situation?

Example: 2nd round vs SHK being able to fight 1-1/2 ranks at other weapons.

> If you were armed with another hth weapon in addition to
your 1HCW, you might count that, depending on what it was. But in fighting
those
troop types with 1HCW alone, no second rank figs count.

Jon

Ed,

1HCW can't fight rank and a half versus Knights.
They only fight rank and a half against HC, MC, LC and mounted
equivalents, and against all foot except SHI/EHI.

Not sure if that changes your question...

That is the main point of the question. Jon seems to imply that they may be able
to fight 1-1/2 ranks if "armed with another hth weapon in addition to your
1HCW".

Is the other weapon eligible to fight at 1.5 ranks?

Also, isn’t the first weapon listed the Primary weapon? You can’t just
choose to not use it, right?

So, if your Legions are fighting Knights, on first contact they would be 1.5
ranks of HTW. Next bound they would be front rank 1 HCW, and .5 rank of
Other Infantry with JLS, right?

Jon?

You guys have it all wrong!

In the second round of combat against the SHK, the Romans exchange
ranks and fight with 1 rank of HTW, and 1/2 rank of JLS :)

That is if you run your Romans 3 ranks deep and you exchange the 3rd
rank for the first. Of course you would have to counter to do this
if you didn't follow up the recoil ;)

Just humor, just humor

Sorry I took so long with this, but I just wanted to be sure.

There is no such troop type as above, and there is no plan to ever have any.
All of the Roman legionaries who have the swordsman rule (and thus revert to
1HCW) can not also be armed with JLS.

There are, for example, many roman legionaries to whom the swordsman rule
applies that can be EITHER HTW OR JLS. The swordsman rule only applies to the
ones who are HTW-armed.

There are, for example, post-severan legionaries who can be HTW, JLS, but the
swordsman rule does not apply to them.

hope this helps.

J
