The updated list can be found at http://www.dauphinehotel.com/nict99.htm

Wait a couple of days and you'll see the same list on the NASAMW site.

This is also probably a good time to elicit the usual 45 opinions from 30
people. Next year, the NICT will remain, as it has for some time now, in 25mm.
What are the thoughts *of those who've played and those who anticipate playing*
about doing the NICT in 15mm in 2005, then in 25mm in 2006, and back to 15mm in
2007 and so on?

There's a big part of me that hesitates to even raise this because I think we
put on a better "promo" game as a side benefit of the NICT when we make it
exclusively 25mm. OTOH, I'm sure there are other styles and armies that folks
might bring if we flip flop back and forth.

Scott

Scott,

It is far easier for me when travelling by air to bring 15mm. Unless you
know of a packing method that is for efficient for 25mm lead. And you should
know by now that I love Regular D troops which means more weight than most
armies!

WAB requires as many if not more figures at the point level played in the
games I saw at HCon. And the figures are bigger and harder to store in one box.

I have 12 recruits, mostly former WAB/WHFB players who have come all the way
over or at least who play no WAB and much less WHFB - and Fast Warrior and the
Fantasy Warrior playtest have much to do with that.

Scott ...

I feel the NICT should be in 25mm with two 1500 point lists, played
at 3.5 hours per game. This is the 1.5 opinions I may or may not be
due.

Greg,

At this level, is it necessary to have 3.5 hour rounds? True, not
everyone plays as fast as we do... ;-)

As far as scale goes, for those of us that travel, 25mm is not
practical at all. This fact doubles in importance if you plan on
playing one army in the theme and another in the Open or NICT. Not to
mention the logistics of trying to carry your figures on board. Some
have asked and been told no (especially with pointy pike armies). I
don't trust packing and checking bags containing figures at the
airport. I also shudder to think about shipping figures that have
taken some of us a long time to paint. Yes, you can insure them but
the time spent in painting is never recoverd.

Yes, 25mm figures are nicer. But I think they are best used in Fast
Warrior, mini-tournaments and demo games. Not all of us have 10,000
points of 25mm like Scott and the other sustaining guard of the
NASAMW. Do I like 25mm better? Yes and I will continue to build my
collection. From a practical standpoint, 15mm is the best way to go
when you consider cost, travel, etc.

If I am not mistaken, WAB requires fewer figures than Warrior;
correct? Has anyone gotten some of the WAB youngsters out there to
play Warrior and hopefully continue to play?

Seems to me that for younger, poorer students (and college professors
such as Ewan Wink ) 15mm actually attracts more players than 25mm.
Maybe I am assuming here but I know I can buy 15mm lead for about
$100. The same army in 25mm costs 2.5 times and more than the 15mm
army. How many folks play 25mm DBM?

Anyway, this rambling post is meant to add some clout to 15mm being
used on the national level. As far as point reduction goes, I am in
agreement here as well. I leave round duration to the organizers but
a will say that my migraines are much smaller with shorter rounds :-)
