Is there a list out of who is playing what armies?
Was there an actual deadline to turn NICT lists in or is it all at
the con this year?

I sent out emails with deadlines to each person participating. There is no list
"out there" in advance of the tourney. You'll find out what people are playing
the day of the event.

There is a list in Scott's hands, but nowhere else. The occasional
entrant - such as myself - is 'outed' - but I know only two of the
other entrants' armies.

No, Greek, the list turn in is just for the NICT guys.

I need to find you because I'd like to see what you have done with your later
judeans.
As for 'intelligence gathering' that should be left to us professionals. The
idea that somehow NICT lists can (or should) be kept secret is interesting, but
then I have lots more training in uncovering secrets than I do in Warrior...lol
See you there!

Okay, okay...now I've got to expose my ingnorance. I thought we just
registered at Hcon and paid $5 to Scott for all events. Of course, I'm not
talking NICT here, since that is way out of my competitive league. Is
something more required for other Warrior events? If so, let me say for
everyone's intelligence gathering benefit that I'll be playing Hellenistic
Greeks (surprise, surprise) in the 15mm mini and open, and Later Judaeans
in the 15mm theme. My son John "little Greek" Chriss will play Parthians
in the 15mm mini, theme, and open. I'll give you the money for each of us,
Scott, when we show up at noon on Thursday. Okay? Anything else I need to
do?

lol...that's ok. I am looking forward to FHE's crack at getting Hellenistic
Greeks right and would like to visit with them too, in all their
pseudo-monotheistic glory..

That is a key to success. There is no replacement in Warrior, especially early
in one's career, for simple mastery of an army.

Yes, well, I'd love to meet you. If you mean painting-wise, the truth is
that my Later Judaeans are just my Hellenistic Greek figures pretending to
be monotheistic, so you might be disappointed, although not aesthetically,
as they're quite pretty (in a Greek manly sort of way), as Scott can tell
you, having seen them. If you mean army-list-wise, then, once again,
they're just my Hellenistic Greeks...minus a few units and strategems, of
course, and plus a few others ;)
That way, excepting minor differences in morale, exact unit composition,
etc., I get to play the same army nine straight times over the course oif
the weekend. In the Theme, I will simply pretend, for the sake of my own
psychological well-being, that they are very, very Hellenized Judaeans.

You need the school of Jon, Greek....lol We are celebrating my sixth recruit to
qualify for the NICT...

Yes, but alas I've been playing very similar armies for 15 years, and have
little success (although much fun) to show for it. I think I must just be
a bit slower learner than most. Perhaps when I reach 70, I'll win a
tournament--something to look forward to. As Solon told Croesus, "No one
is truly successful until the end is known."

I'm always up for another diploma! No rush, however. It'll take me a
good year or two to paint a 25mm army to my standards anyway.
Perhaps by then I'll be good enough to need it.

I always enjoy predicting what various people will be using. Scott, keep the
list of who is using what in your pocket, but could you distribute the list of
this year's participants.
Then, I'd propose that anyone interested predict what the army pool will be this
year.
The winner gets. . . nothing. OK, if the winner is present at Historicon, I'll
donate a beer to the cause. Of course, those with inside information should be
precluded from the predicing. To avoid giving away any super top secret info,
people should not predict what they are using (presumably something they know a
thing or two about). If Scott feels comfortable giving out the player info, I'd
tally the responses. Let's say that predictions should be in by midnight Wed.
Silly yes, but good for a little pre-Historicon fun.
Dave.

That would indeed be (silly) fun. My general prediction, I think, is
for pikes to make a comeback, which is not much to my liking . I'm
curious to see how many Romans come out given the theme - but then, I
don't know yet how many actual Romans we'll see in the Roman theme.
I note that our list moderator, despite expressing amusement at
secrecy, did not proffer up his own army choice... Jon? :)

Ewan, I did not 'offer up' my army choice because it is not a secret. I find
that idea strange. I cannot imagine there is anyone playing in the NICT who
does not know that I am playing Medieval Spanish, but in case someone has been
asleep this past year, there it is.
