Just to put this in perspective, friend of mine in SA is a huge ancient
egyptian fan. I remember him showing me evidence that the ancient egyptian
archers used recurved composite bows ( as high a draw as a long bow) and had
eight
types of arrows including types that with modern recreations put an arrow
through 4 inches of oak (the claim to fame of the longbow).
So just because we know more about the longbow does not exclude other armies
from having similar technological edges. Personally I would rather be a
medieval knight than an egyptian or Han cahrioteer, but in context (time wise)
I
am not sure this would be true.
In my opinion if it aint broke don't fix it. Now so saying EHI swiss may
have some validity, but they should only be good enough to be a good match for
alexandrian pike, not a clear winner.
In my opinion the beuty of this game and it's predesessors is allowing non
historical matchups
All the best
Robert

Guday all!

This is just to confirm the vagaries of trying to compare
technologies across time and cultures.

The Mongols had a composite bow with an estimated 110-130 lbs pull.
They had arrows with a steel shaft (first third or half) to avoid
shattering as they impacted on Medieval's armour!

Their mounted bows were devasting to the medievals of Europe.

Historically speaking, Swiss against the Mongol bow would NOT have
counted as LEHI.

For what its worth (and it's probably not much!)
