Wanax said, complaining about being put down by Jon: "enjoy
yourself, for I'm about done with this constant beating for no
reason.

Wanax"

Jon, fwiw, this is an opinion I share - I simply choose to
ignore, most of the time, but note the disclaimers on recent
posts about expecting to have a follow-up post dismissing the
opinione stated. I don't know what the right forum is to discuss
your moderation style, though..

Anyway, more happpily: I'm about to upload a file which I will
title "NICT army analysis" - which is simply the NICT 2003 army
lists from the files section, with my comments on each list, as a
continuation of the recent army-list evaluation thread. it's a
bit big - took a while - but should perhaps provide fodder for
folk to disagree with me at length Smile.

So, what's the fix? To just let an army rating you disagree with go by?
Seriously, if my 'style' in disagreement with a claim of a certain troop type or
tactic is bothering you and Boyd, tell me how to disagree differently. Just
accepting some of the claims made here without counterpoint isn't an option, so
let's find another one.

As far as the name-ax thing, if that is bothering you Boyd, hey its in fun and
nothing is meant. Anyone who calls himself spockleftball and a
transliteratively incorrect greek name shouldn't be so thick skinned...lol

Jon

Ok, here's an example:

Ewan gave my Han list a 2/10 and didn't have a lot to say about it that wasn't
critical.

He's right.

I took what I had painted of my own into last year's tourney and got schwacked.
His analysis is pretty much right on, and I could even add a few more negative
things...lol
What that experience caused me to do was to swear never to just take whatever I
had into that level of play again, and also to practice throughout the year with
the army I intended to take to the NICT at all point values and in both scales.

I also agree, fwiw, with most of what Ewan said - and the parts I disagreed with
were style issues and not mechanical ones.

Good stuff, Ewan. Thanks. I would commend this document to all comp players.

Jon

Ewan,

Thanks for the insight. Any chance you'll be
reviewing this years list in the near future?

Todd

I have no idea of what you speak, but irony seems lost on you at
times Jon. In my direct translation from greek to latin, Agamemnon
is called Wanax Andron in chapter 1. Sorry but I'm not bothered by
your extra effort. Please continue Borax :)

Hey, believe me, I am well aware that no one naming himself after Agamemnon is
going to be dissuaded by something like a real greek speaker giving a class on
translation errors..lol Carry on, andron!

Todd, that was the NICT - the tourney we just had was the doubles. But, I would
also be curious - I just don't think those lists are available as a group like
the NICT ones are, as we had to turn those in, but not the doubles.

Ah, OK.

For some reason I thought Scott had put another list
in the files section.

Couldn't agree more. Perhaps lists could be turned in for next
year. Scott?

>Since it's an open event, I usually don't do this. Of course after some of the
issues at CW this year, that might not be a bad idea. Perhaps a "turn in your
list when you sign up". Then I don't really care what they are but could post
em later on. I will say that I'm not terribly sure what we glean from 2000
point lists. Given the stylized nature of the tournament, I'd probably get more
out of looking at 1600 and 1200 point lists, fwiw.

Scott,

Just to show my ignorance of what the heck is going on (in a tourney
I played in) outside my own games... what issues, if you don't mind
and can indicate without causing heartburn to someone?

No comment. It's an issue that highlighted some procedural flaws which have
been rectified. It didn't affect the outcome of any event(s).
