I'm trying to get some lists for the Punic Wars period. I have a
very old 7th Ed book but I understand there have been some changes to
many of the lists. Can someone provide me with an electronic copy of
the legal lists for - Camillan/Polybian Romans / Pyrrhic / Later
Macedonian / Later Successor or Early Seleucids please.

Thanks
Marcus Tregenza

Well folks, BIBLICAL WARRIOR is thru it's second draft stage. I've got one guy
providing input on several lists and when that's finished, it'll be off for
proofing.

Since each book will have an "enemies" section, it's forcing me to determine
what armies go in what books well in advance of the actual drafting process.
Two exceptions to that will be ASIAN WARRIOR (or something slightly more pithy)
and whereever we plunk the New World lists (and don't expect "North American
Mound Builders" to be seen in any actual WARRIOR-related publication. Some
lists are best left for posting on "official internet sites").

There are three DBM lists that do not have antecedents in the 7th ed world and I
feel should be included. These lists are:

Bagratid Armenian
Dynastic Bedouin
Early Muslim North Africa/Sicily

I hesitate to simply pull what material I have and then use DBM lists as a rough
template for WARRIOR lists, particularly since this isn't my strongest
historical period. Actually, I'm wrestling with the same issue with many of the
post-Komenan Byzantine lists but have two guys who can provide lots of material
and input. BTW, the above three lists *should" go in the HOLY WARRIOR book
(Crusades, Late Byzantines, Turks, all that stuff).

So, I'm looking for any input or leads. Oh yeah, at some point, I'll probably
post each booklet and the armies it will contain. Nothing else will be
available in an electronic format but this should give everyone an idea of when
revised lists will hit the streets.

Scott

Due to a move from South Africa to the UK, I had to leave most of my
belongings there until further notice. Could I possibly beg someone to let
me have copies (scanned or similar electronic format?) of the following
three lists:
168. 100YW English
170. Medieval French
171. Medieval Spanish

To add to Scott's mail:

The lists online (the NASAMW lists) are in tow different formats. Some are
addenda to the original 'old' WRG army list books and some are entire lists.
Depends on which list you are talking about.

The 'old' and 'new' WRG lists and the Book of Hosts are not available
electronically. I would imagine Phil at Tabletop Games in Lenexa could get you
some or Wargames Inc.

I assumed that the army lists in the file section were the NASAMW
lists in their entirity, however, it appears as if they are only
changes or modifications. Can anyone point me in the right direction
for the army lists used by the Warrior group. Thanks in advance for
your help.

>There are none.....yet. When Warrior is published in late October/early
November, the first army list book, Biblical Warrior, will also be published.
The next book, currently being drafted, will be Dark Age Warrior. It will
*hopefully* be published for Cold Wars. Depending on my schedule, another
will be ready at Historicon although another book at Fall In is more likely.
All in all, we'll have the aforementioned two books plus Holy Warrior, Feudal
Warrior, Imperial Warrior, Classical Warrior, and Oriental Warrior. 7 New
World lists will be available online free. Only the New World lists will be
available online, everything else, hard copy only. I might add that the final
version of Warrior won't be online either, nor will it be made available in
any electronic format.

>Now, as to what lists are "allowed" where, that's entirely up to the
tournament organizer. Now what *I* plan on doing for any tourney I run is not
allow any army list that's been covered by a Warrior version. In the
meantime, I allow new/old WRG, Book of Hosts, NASAMW revisions. This means
anybody playing Warrior at Cold Wars, Historicon, and Fall In, can expect to
use just about anything until it's superceeeeeded. What anybody else does
around the world is entirely up to them. But, the old WRG lists have, in many
cases, gaping holes in them. The new WRG lists are a crock, period. The Book
of Hosts are somewhere in between:)SmileSmile Plus, the NASAMW revisions have some
research flaws and the Book II revisions are almost entirely unuseable AND
depended on some "then trendy" academic papers that have since been mostly
trashed.

>So, hopefully I'll clean up much of that. I have lotsa people reviewing the
books when they're finished. There are sample lists at the yahoogroup site.

Well not wanting to jump too heavily upon this issue,
but I have a real bitch about the NASAMW Maurikian
list. It is entirely subjective in interpretation for
Bucelarkii (sp) and is unplayable as a army as
written.

Flame retarded suit in place.

This is/was my favorite 25mm list, and the original
WRG list was much better able at allowing one to use
this army in a historical manner.

I don't know who wrote it, and I appologize if they
are offended. Yet I know that the new Warrior list
will be more in line with the strategicon's dictum.

Thanks Scott. Will these be available from the FHE direct or will
you have a distributor?

Dave

***Thanks Jon;

I have my old WRG army lists, but I believe that they are from 6th
Ed. (3 books-Yellow, Gray, and Orange, with goofy drawings on the
front of each.) I assume you're talking about some other lists.
I'll call Phil and see if has them.

Dave,
When I was at Jake's house before he left, I
noticed that he still had a few copies of the oriental
army lists (considered "new" WRG stuff). You can
contact him at eaglewars@... . I'm sure he would
be more than happy to unload/sell a copy to you! Jake
is the money horse in FHE and always is prompt about
internet orders!

See ya,

Kelly

Greetings All
I believe that the weaknesses of the new liosts are far more philosophical
then neccessarily historical.
Firstly I have always ascribed to the belief that all armies should be able
to compete reasonably well across time-periods. Otherwise just have a rule
set for biblical, onwe for classical greece etc. Secondly I believe that
great armies in period should be able to compete out of period, so the
Assyrians and the Babylonians should be very strong out of period, in
particular the Assyrians klook like a list written or 4000 points. Your
minimums in all periods run to 1200+ points, the foot is very weak etc. As an
example making the foot 1/3 bow makes the army much stronger.
I like some of the dark age armies but have yet to be able to put together
one I really feel like would do well (not be asitting duck) in an open
tournament. The place I now unfortunately do 90+% of my gaming. Overall I
believe if you listen to people who have played Vikings none that I have
spoken to like the new list.
I think Dark age warrior is better than biblical in terms of having
interesting lists that could possibly win games in a tournament. Biblical to
my mind eliminates ever seeing anything but Midianites in a serious
tournament.
Hopefully as we move forward the armies will be playable in 1200 and 1600
points, with some choice in army flavour (unlike Assyrians, Maurikians etc),
and be written with both History and game mechanics taken into account.
As for Historical veracity, I believe there is considerable evidence for
alternate armies compositions to those I have seen.
Having said the above I am happy that we are reducing the vast array of lists
that existed pfrior to this, and am at least partially aware of how much work
has gone into putting these lists together.
Look forward to hearing further comments
Robert
