Please verify that artillery that counts as transport to prep shooting counts as
artillery factors
in HTH. There is not a note in HTH factors that says that "Artillery counts as
transport
factors if..." like there is in 8.92.

Also why is other cav vs. Artillery a '0' weapon factor and other infantry vs.
Art is a '1'
weapon factor? (no agenda, just was wanting some historical info)

Please verify that if you double base light bolt shooters as per 2.511, the body
divides the
number of casualties to it by 5 (not 10) figure equivalents (rule 10.3).

Could you make an artillery sub-section in the rules that has all the artillery
notes just bulleted
for reference? I think this would help out new players as well as a quick
reference during a
tourney.

Art is always Art in HtH.

Verified. If you have a player who has tried to do otherwise, kill him now.

Just to break up the rules tension a bit, I was wondering how other players feel about the use of artillery in the 25mm scale?
I know lots of the Dallas guys love it, but quite frankly, most of the times I have faced it, it ended up shooting at my light infantry or something worthless like that. I remember one game in particular where opposing artillery was quite useful to me as a good way to get 2CPF on my cavalry, allowing unprompted charges. Not what my opponent had in mind I think.
Anyway, I would like to hear the opinions of others. Do you really think it is a good weapon, or is the best thing about it; painting it? ~smiles~

Yeah, I love painting equipment. You can do some very nice weathering
that really adds to the visual effect!

Of course, if you can get your light artillery in mass, close enough
to the real target, you can make a unit go away!

Not quite like the time in WRG 5th edition when the far right unit in
my 3000 pt Late Imperial Army failed morale, and took the rest of the
army with it.

Game over in three turns!

At least with artillery you feel like there is potential.

More like roll for rocket launcher prep fire, -5+2 (expletive
deleted!), CinC standing next to launcher, rolls +6 on damage, dies!
Multiple waver tests, so MANY "1"s, army goes home, opponent laughs
and laughs and laughs. Get stopped by another player the following
day who says "did you hear about the poor boob who........"

Hi,

I'm the guy who runs 11 models of Art in a game in 25mm. Art is only
good in 25mm. In 15s, there is too much room for your enemy to avoid
them and too much space to have to cover to get them into place. Art
is very useful at making zones of control (death). Most players have
not taken the time to learn how to defeat art, hence they avoid them.
Combining Art with other missilr troops is a must. The additional
fire support for Art and a Bow unit can push a good shot to great
shot. Keep a shock unit close by, like EHC or knights. Fear high
morale Light Inf., for they are the best kills of Art.

Eric use artillery??? Never thought of that one Smile Eric is right with the
zones of death. Massed artillery is very useful, especially in 25mm. I
finally was able to get through the art. barrage with some quality luck and
terrain. It took me a few stompings by Eric to start to figure out how to
accomplish this.
Artillery does make your army somewhat static at times and this may
result in 1-1 type scores, which will take both of you out of winning the
tournament. If your opponent is not willing to come through your death trap
then you may find yourself stairing across the table at each other.

While I tend to lurk here (as I left the face to face
wargaming environment as 7 was being introduced so still
tend to play, and to like, WRG 6), the comment on artillery
got me thinking.
I suspect that you'll find such a setup vulnerable to flank
marches and echeloned maneuvers, as whenever I've face a
similar situation in other games that seemed to proved a
viable response.
Classical artillery (pre Gustavus A.) was just too immobile
to deal effectively with such tactics.

Greetings,

My personal feeling has always been that the real value of artillery is
not the damage it does, but the fact that it tends to "channel" your
opponent away from in front of it. Most of the time, it is really more of
a "terrain effect" than a combat factor -- which is not to say that it can
be very valuable in this role.
