I am still working on my 25mm Han (my never-ending project) but I could throw a
knight army on the table. Why are we waiting until November?

And before you rebase anything - tell me why? I have the Early Germans and am
not aware of anything out there driving me to rebase....

Might want to take this particular conversation to joncleaves@....

Jon

I sat down last night and read through Warrior quickly, and then went
through with the highliter to study it. It was like slipping on a
comfortable pair of jeans, so much was famiiar to me. It really is a
nice rules system (record keeping, or not...in fact, I kinda liked
doing that IIRC), and I think it reads very well. Not one time last
night did I re-read a paragraph multiple times trying to determine
what was being communicated (no Barkerisms). Nice job. Now I have
some major rebasing to do with my Early Germans, which doesn't thrill
me to death. Also, I've got to decide on a 15mm army..any
suggestions...I've kind of always wanted to do a Nik Byzantine, or
similar, but I don't know. I'm open at this point.

Jon, would you consider running a couple of games in 25mm in
November? I don't know if any local players have 25mm armies, but I
would love to run the 1st PanzerGrenadiers out there for the first
time.

Dave

Dave:

Before you do a Nik Byzantine, you might want to talk to Greg Regets
about his experiences with the army list. He loves that army, but from
a gaming stand point, he found it fought nothing like its historical
record especially the vaunted virangian(ms) guardsmen. His email
address is Greg@....

Harlan,
After talking with Paul Georgian(who is helping
Scott Holder with many of the Byzantine lists) at
Historicon this past July, I am confident that those
armies will return to their former status as fine
armies to play! One thing Paul mentioned was that the
ratio of lancers was actually greater than the number
of archer cav. Further, I have the feeling from
reading Scott's posts that he and Jon are committed to
making those armies competative versus their
contemporaries (i.e. the Sassanids, Arabs, Avars. . .
So my advice to Dave is to go ahead and build that
Nikephorean army! They kicked a lot of butt in history
and will in Warrior as well if properly generaled.

Kelly

To be really accurate, in Dark Age Warrior there are three Byzantine lists,
Early, Maurikian, and Thematic. I provide Paul with the first draft, he had
already provided me with some general info in which to formulate the lists.
He then overhauls the list and sends it back to me. To date, after that, I've
gone back to him with a couple of technical tweaks on the Early list. The
Maurikian list I simply incorporated all of his changes. He is now working on
the Thematic list (again, he has the draft) while I enter the end run with the
real dark age trash:)Smile:)

I have a group who, when the draft book is finished, will go over it.
Obviously each Ho gets plenty of cracks at it. I send it out two a couple of
"tournament heavyweights" for their perspective. I have one or two other
"silent" reviewers. And, in the case of Dark Age Warrior, Terry Gore will
also be reviewing the draft.

Don't forget, Biblical Warrior will presumably be on sale at Fall In assuming
we meet our publication deadlines and such. Dark Age Warrior, again with the
usual assumptions, will be ready at Cold Wars 02. After that, I don't have a
firm timetable but am hoping to have Holy Warrior ready for publication at
Fall In 02. Of course if I can get it ready to Hcon 02, even better but I'm
not counting on it. Nonetheless, that would be 3 army list books in a 12
month period. Feudal or Imperial Warrior will follow, then the other of those
two. The last two books to be done will be Classical and Oriental Warrior
(that last title could change, Oriental is so un-PC these days>grin<).
Somewhere in all of this, I'll do the New World lists and post em online.
Expect them to get done sooner rather than later since they'll be a nice break
(for me) from the regular list grind.

That would be great.
