Jon,
See diagram "et new shooting arc"
This is the first question from Fall In. I understand the example 1
but is that the limit of shooting at a target bedind your flank?
When will Unit B not be able to be shot at by Unit A?
How far behind the flank will Unit B have to be, to NOT be a legal
target?
What is the requirement? One element in front of the shooter or inside
the phantom element arc.

See diagram "et new shooting arc" >>
Got it - superb diagram - crystal clear.
In both cases A may fire at B with his leftmost elements. B is clearly in arc
in both examples. Only if A could not draw a line from both corners of the
front of the left most element would b be untargetable. - this would be due to
lack of line of sight.
In the diagrams, though, A can shoot at B.
Eric, please shoot me an email offline and confirm that you got my last email
about NASAMW business.
