A Fast Warrior Tournament was held at this year's Heart of America HMGS Border
Wars. It was a theme event, 100 Years War, and we had some great historical
matchups in the 3 rounds of play. Sponsors were David Smith, Kelly Wilkinson
and the Dead General's Society. Prizes were copious, in fact, we have the best
prize to player ratio of any tourney in the USofA. This time, we had 3
unpainted 15mm armies, all Essex I believe, cash, and around 30 elements of
painted troops, gogeously painted troops at that, half were medieval knight
trash, the other half something vaguely Middle Eastern from the Ottoman
period--both will make a great core army for someone. There were 3 plaques for
1st place, Sportsman, Best Rookie and a ribbon for best painted.

Best Painted was Mike Turner's "Low Countries". Ask him about his "English
Longbowmen" sometime:)Smile:)

Best Rookie was Paul Luschen. We defined best rookie as the highest placing
player of those attending who had not yet won a Warrior event. We had 3 and
Paul played three good games.

Sportsman was longtime Warrior player Jamie Gentry who, very fortuitously, was
in town on bidness so could participate in a weekend of gaming.

And now for the results:

1) Jon Cleaves, Medieval Spanish, 18 pts
2) Kelly Wilkinson, Scots Common, 17 pts
3) Mike Turner, Low Countries, 14 pts
4) Paul Luschen, Swiss, 13 pts
5) Jamie Gentry, Late Poles, 10 pts
6) Todd Schnieder, Medieval German Princes, 9 pts
7) Jon Becker, Medieval French, 5 pts
Cool Jack Young, Free Company, 3 pts

I gotta say that there were loads of very close games. Kelly beat Todd in round
2 because his knights rolled up on a charge into woods of all things, getting
the extra 80p of movement, otherwise, it was nip and tuck the whole time. Jon C
had a tense moment in round 2 when Todd had a chance to plow into his dismounted
CinC with a high probability of sending him back to Seville in a coffin, but
then instead turned to whack on the flank of Jon's Moog unit. Todd learned a
very valueable lesson from that little decision:)Smile:)

All in all, everybody had a good time, including me. Our next Fast Warrior
tourney will be in the spring at Call To Arms. I'll be playing instead of
umping. Format and schedule to be determined. Last spring we played an open
event in 15mm but next year, who knows.

Scott,
I can't remember when I had more fun playing in Kansas City! Thank you for
coming out and doing all that you do. And thank you too Jon! :)

ps: I can really tell that Fantasy Warrior must be a great game based on my
Fast Warrior game with Paul (Paul is an adherent of Fantasy Warrior)! He had all
of the bounds down like a pro which is a testament to how cool that system must
be! I can't wait for that product to hit the market as I'm sure it should bring
some cross-over gamers into the Ancients arena of Warrior.
