At Call To Arms, I (putting on NASAMW Umpire Hat) am going to playtest a
tournament rule with an aim for using it at Historicon. To emphasize, this is
an NASAMW thang.

It has to do with Orders. Orders will be handled as follows:

At the start of each game:
1) Orders will be written down as per 4.22 on a card provided by the umpire.
2) Said card will be placed face down on the table where both sides can see it.
3) At the start of Bound 3, each side's Order Card will be flipped face up so
that orders can be seen.
4)If orders are changed, the player will write that on the Order Card and then
place the card face DOWN on the table.
5) On the bound AFTER the new order goes into effect, the card flipped face up
so that orders can be seen.
Repeat 4 and 5 as needed.

I want to do this because we find people not quite following their orders
directly. This
isn't from cheating, it is from inattention or mistake and it happens more often
than you think.

Having to officially write orders down on a card, which will be revealed to
the opponent, makes everybody pay more attention to orders...and hopefully
will wash out most of the mistakes.

Did I mention this is a NASAMW initiative? It's a tournament rule, nothing
more.

Bravo! Back in the heady days of the middle '90's we tried this at KC cons. It's
a great idea that probably needed implementing sooner. Thanks!

I like this idea - it is close to my suggestion of orders in a sealed
envelope - but better.
