Here is the situation. Two 1X2 bodies are 40p apart and parallel. They do
not overlap at all so that body A's left edge is 1p to the right of body B's
right edge (a total of 121p to span both bodies). The above description is
all taken looking from body A's rear. Ok. Body A declares a charge on body
B. Body B declares a charge on body A. No other bodies affect this in any
way. Whose if any charge is cancelled? Both have a charge declared on them
by a body not in the charge path. Both would like to wheel and hit the
others flank. Does it matter if:
1. Body A is Cav and body B is foot?
2. If body A is Imp foot and body B is plain foot?
3. If body A is Imp foot and body B is plain Cav?
4. If body A is Imp Cav and body B is plain Cav?
Etc.
We had this come up in the game yesterday (I will not say which of the 4
cases occured). We were stumped. We ruled that both charges were cancelled
do to a charge being declared on a body by a body not in the charge path.
This felt wrong, but we could not get another resolution. If we allowed
both bodied to charge, they had to wheel first and then move, and this
results in no contact (or worse one player trying to wheel more deeply than
the other to get contact). This had never occured in a game before, but in
the line em up and pour forward armies we run, its a wonder it does not
occur more often. Please HELP.
