Speaking as one in the outback ( California ) as far as 7th / Warrior
cons are concerned, I would like to see more held in cities that are hubs
for the major airlines and held at an airport hotel. It is much cheaper
to fly in to a hub and flying is the only option for us on the west
coast. Round trip air fare for me to Historicon is about $500 vs about
$150 - $250 to many hubs.

Dallas looks like a good spot then. Let's keep talking this up to see what kind of support it might have. David

The difference in airfare between Dallas/Ft. Worth and San Antonio is about $90.
San Antonio would have considerably better weather and is a far greater tourist attraction. I don't know if that is a big deal, because guys are coming to play. I do know at one time when we had a large group down here, the tournament in San Antonio used to be a great place to bring the family.
Dallas would have comparable hotel rates to San Antonio, but if the idea was to just come and play, the tournament could be in Ft. Worth which would be considerably cheaper than either San Antonio or Dallas. The down side of course, is that you are in Ft. Worth!
My suggestion would be to post an article in Spearpoint discussing a late winter event in 2002 in Texas. Lets see what type of response we get and where people think the event would best be held.
Yes, I will write the article today.

Greg and all lukers:
I take offense in your comment about Fort Worth. While its not a "San Antonio" it is alot better than Dallas (sniff, sniff, sniff). However, you are right, generally speaking Fort Worth is cheaper that Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. Don't forget that DFW is just as good for the a family outing as San Antonio: Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, Fort Worth Zoo (yes, the Fort Worth Zoo is a national award winning zoo), Dallas State Aquarium, Fossil Creek Wildlife Preserve, Japanese Garden, Bass Hall, Galleria, Grapevine Mills, over twenty play houses, nine professional sports teams (if you can count the boys), West End, Sundance Square, Deep Ellum, etc. Another good reason for DFW is DFW Airport and Love Field. Generally speaking, if you fly into Love Field, your tickets and car rental will be considerably cheaper than DFW. But, DFW has direct flight to about everywhere.
Greg and all, do not take this email as me flaming Greg, but just point some advantages of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Midcities.
Greg, thanks for stepping up to the plate and volunteering to write the article. Let me know if you need any help.
