Great time had by all. Thanks to Kelly Wilkinson (2xpainted armies!) and
Dave Smith (plaques, gift certificates and figures) for helping us have yet
again the most prizes per capita of any Warrior tourney in the country.

Thanks to HAHMGS for a great con and superb support.

Next scheduled event is a Medieval Theme Fast Warrior tourney at Border Wars
in the fall. We will be publishing the available lists and dates soon on the
various groups and websites. I'll be playing and not running it since
someone needs to put Becker down....

Jon

Please note the army mix here:
Med. French
Early Hoplite
Arab Conquest
Tibetan
Islamic Persian
Maurikian Byz.
Hunnic
Alex. Imperial
Norman
Bactrian Greek

I was really pleased with this. When was the last time "Early Hoplites" (or Med
French for that matter) won a tournament? I tried to talk to folks about their
lists and came away once again pleased (and grateful and most of all suprised)
at how the FW lists offer so much balance and variability. Yes, the
Biblical-era stuff *still* doesn't do well, in a general sense, outside of
period (with the exception of a handful of armies) which just means we'll hafta
do a Biblical FW Theme tourney one of these days.

Border Wars FW tourney is tentatively set at being 100 Years War. I have 19
armies selected that show the "spirit" of the period. That and you can paint
stuff for one army and use it in 20. And if you have an army from a slightly
earlier period (1100-1300) you can still use it for things like some of the
Irish, Welsh, and Scottish lists. I'll post the tentative list of armies later
this week for comment. We should also have plenty of loaner armies but since
these are small armies, painting up one in 15mm shouldn't be too terribly hard
between now and then. The winner will be annointed Grand Emperor of Western
Europe or something along those lines:)Smile:)

Scheduling will also be a little different than what we've done in recent
memory. Because many of the FW player base also wants to run something else at
Border Wars, we're gonna start FW Friday night at 7pm, run 2 rounds, then run
the final round Saturday morning starting at 9am. I will be the umpire
(although Jon will be doing all the prelim coordination work with HMGS,
sponsors, etc) and I intend on playing but will also be the first person to bail
if we have an odd number. If somebody wants to play Warrior Friday night but
not participate in the FW tourney and I'm sitting out, I'd also be more than
willing to play a 1200-1600 point game in either scale while I "run" the actual
tourney.

Scott
