Gents,
Am looking for a Dark Age opponent for Vikings. Because of other
priorities, am considering the following lists:

1.Magyar
2.Carl. Frank
3.Slavs
4.Sub-Roman Brits

Any cooments as to one of these armies giving a good stand up fight
with the Vikings? Francis Reed

>Either Slav or Sub-Roman Brits. Slavs provide a certain even
slug-fest-ness while the cav elements in SRB present some contrasting
tactical styles and yet don't unbalance the game (as the SRB player
tries to leverage his cav advantage vs the Vikings). Carl Frank would
be similar although the more cav can make games very short on the Viking
side (waver tests). Magyars are brutal for the Vikings (ask Jon) unless
both terrain picks (woods) are obtained to anchor both flanks. Even
then, unless the Viking player can adoitly get his Irr A/B troops to
120p of the Magyar cav, it's waver test city in order to win the game.
And the Magyar player can always simply skirmish. The Viking player's
Bondi Archers are the only real countermeasure to this but being Irr C,
will be more susceptible to the waver test from a charge.

>I'd go with Slavs and then get one of those snowy fold-up boards from
war zone! Good looking battle.

Scott,
Thanks for your answer. That is one of the things I like about this
list, a lot of helpful folks. Francis Reed
