What are a few reasons why you would you ever want to do this in
Warrior? Say for instance English 2E Reg B SHK/HK units with a
typical supporting cast.

As an example, I might guess against pikes? Luckily never had to
make this choice yet.

But interested in this and other situations as well.

And, if you ever would, what is the best mechanic for going about it,
for
instance how far away from enemy, what to watch out for, etcetera?

It certainly is a historical tactic. I have the figures to do it a
bunch. But never have. And never really know during a battle when to
make the commitment. And SHK are easier to use than SHI.

I do it fairly often with SHK/EHK or SHK/HK combos. Killing pike/LTS is the
primary reason to... Smile In a bad spot you are better this way than mounted v.
El, but you won't last long without help. Timed correctly you can use
dismounting to kill or at least chase away LB troops. Very useful against close
order B/LB like classical indians.

Dismounting vs. Pike blocks is one of the biggest reasons IMO.

And, for what it’s worth, if your doing dismounted knights, check out some
of the Fantasy Lines, for some reasons their dismounted kniggits look way
cooler than historicals.
