Mark,
Back in the days when I was able to actually travel to where
other gamers gathered, I always used to take at least two or
three different related armies with me, so that I could
always find an opponent.
Frankly, as my isolation increased, I became quite
reconciled to being able to play "out of period" armies.
So I think the idea of having "donator" armies is a fine
one. In fact, a necessary one if the hobby is to survive.
Unlike you, however, over the years, my armies have fallen
into disrepair and probably need serious restoration and
upgrading to bring them into quality for the chances to
attend conventions that I may have later this year.
Seeing you say not only that you had huge stashes of
figures, but even units or armies that you could share, I
began wondering how many of us who do have "spares" might
make them available within this context to other players --
a sort of white sale of figures.
Heavens, we could even come up with an appropriate place for
us donate the money if we wanted to, I'm sure!
Sincerely,
Arthur
