OK, hoplites are now backburner and simply untenable, so I've reverted to my
original tactic from the late 80s of playing the delayer. Nice thing is with
the new Warrior list, the byzantines not only get the rank and half for L
charging but the variety of options is more akin to the historical models. Now
if only EHC could skirmish....outside of Augusta that is :)

I've taken the minimum HC in both lists in all flavors, and I am forced to take
Skuts since I'm using LMI. My game theory here is to use small units of LI and
LMI to manuver about and delay the enemy line in hope of creating a kink into
which I can push the HC. I am using the defense in depth concept where the LI
and LC take the first few bounds of punishment and fall back, then they are
joined by the LMI for targeting additional missile fire in a key area, then
finally the HC add missile fire and charge threat while allowing the LI and LMI
to continue soaking as much return fire as possible. Finally once an area of
the enemy line has a couple of units that are tired I push in the Goths with a
subG and some Kavalorii impetouosly and create a gap in one of our lines :)

This tactic has worked well in the passed for me at 1600pt, but it is a slow
developing tactic and result are often timed out for marginal victory to tie.
I'm not sure how well it will work at 1200 because I can't afford the other
foot. One thing I do miss is the 2E RgC LC B/sh units of the old lists, but
then the lists are much better overall.
