If there are 15mm only players out there who would like to play in 25mm
but need an army, just ask. I can't promise everything but would be
more than glad to provide an army or 6.

I thought that we were aiming at 25mm. All of those coming from Dallas
have
25's and can probably furnish the maybes from the area as well. None of
us
have played a 25mm tournament. I think that would be a hoot. Any one
else?

Any one else?

>Jon and I are mostly committed to this as well. I can't really speak
*for* him but we're both making mutual noises about being there. Assume
that to be the case for a minute, there's 6 people (Don, Tony, Chris,
Pat, Jon, me). I got an email from Sean Scott (he'll be doing the
Italian Condotta list in Feudal Warrior in case anyone cares) saying
that he's arranging his travel plans to attend TwisterCon as well if we
pull off a Warrior tourney. That's 7.

>Tom Keegan has also made committment noises as well, there's 8. That's
more than enough for a good ole 1600 point 3 round slug fest.

>Now if the maybe folks "unmaybe" themselves, we're at 11. Again, it
appears as if there are enough 25mm armies around that someone without
such lead stands a good chance of using something he actually might want
to use.

>Okay, even if you've spoken up before, please post something here if
you plan on attending TwisterCon and whether or not you need a 25mm in
order to attend.

>Just to kick off the "here's what lead I have", here's a list of 25mm I
can make available (please be reminded that I might not be able to do
every possible variation of any given army). Also keep in mind that
much of this lead is interchangeable:

-Sumerians
-Late Hebrews
-Galatians
-Various Alexandrian-era pike trash lists (sucky lead)
-Late Hoplites (old WRG with heavy emphasis on Spanish)
-Numidians (the 8 elephant version with fake Romans)
-Aztecs
-Burgundian Ordonnance
-Yuan (or some of the other Mongol-ish lists)
-Sung (the foot works well with aforementioned other Mongol-ish lists)
-Early Byzantines (the lead sucks and it's pretty much done for one
narrow list)
-Khmer (extremely narrow version of this list so my lead might not meet
your needs)
-Marian Roman (would come at the expense of many of the above mentioned
armies but I have enough of the components to put it together).

Since I never have the attention span to play one list over and over, I
don't care what I play. I doubt people will trip over themselves to ask
for Sumerians or Late Hebrews so I might play one of them for the first
time under the Warrior lists.

For "flavor", if anybody brings an army that has list rules in FW (I'm
thinking mainly of the Romans and the Swiss), we will use those list
rules but contact me first to make sure.

To reiterate, what I'm suggesting here is a 1600 point Warrior tourney,
one army list (no second variation), 3 rounds on Saturday, 25mm. If we
have an odd number, either one person sits out or two people "pair up"
and play as one.

I am currently planning to be there. I don't have my own 25mm lead, but
can probably get at least one from the other DFW folks.

I have three 6x12 pieces of felt and some other assorted sizes that
would piece together just fine for 8x5. I don't think felt will be the
limiting factor here.

The more I think about this, the more I hope we can pull this off. We
have as many Warrior players in this area as we do "other" games so
having a tourney really makes sense. And if it's in 25mm, it looks
better:)Smile:)

>>> cncbump@... 2/14/02 10:19:00 AM >>>
Scott,

Don, Pat and I will all be there with 25mm armies. Our focus now is to

ensure that space and tables can be attained. Ground clothes? We all
have
them, but they are 6x4. Felt sucks in this capacity, although I do have
one
piece that will cover an 8x5. Recommendations/ thoughts? Pat is
currently
working on 2x2 modular terrain that should be done by then and will work
for
1 table. Since we may need as many as 6 tables, cover will be a
potential
issue. Logistics, Logistics.....

Tom Says:

Unfortunately I am still only at the noise level. I am getting
jerked around at work and may have to change some of my work travel
plans (TDY orders for those in the military). I may not know for a
couple of more weeks. But here are two thoughts:

1) I have five 25mm armies I would be willing to loan to the cause
whether I attend or not. They are:
- Han Chinese
- Hsiung Nu
- Indian
- Early Imperial Roman
- Macedonian or multiple successor variants (it is a Seleucid
army but I have added a lot of other stuff so it can serve multiple
roles).

2) We could put on a 1600 point fixed pairs tourney. Like what we
did for the Fast Warrior tourny up here in KC. The fixed pairs could
be historical matchups and stay on the table with the players
rotating each round.

Just some thoughts. I will let you know about my attendance as soon
as I can commit.

Do we have an identified person in charge of the potential Warrior event at
Twistercon?

Actually Dave,

We are looking at a 25mm tournament with 1600 points played in 3 rounds on
Saturday only. Anyone, am I wrong on this?

I believe if every doesn't mind having their army borrowed, then from the
sound of It there are a about 20 armies to chose from. Owners of course
having first choice.

Chris;

No, I understand. I have indicated to Scott that I could probably
get a few fellows together (6+) to do a Fast Warrior sluggo
simultaneously. I have 2 4x3 battle boards, some nice terrain, and
we could do a round robin. I have volunteered to provide some
painted and unpainted figures, and gift certificates for the best FW
general, and also best presentation.

I sponsored a WAB tourney here in KC last Fall and we had 12
participants from the area including DFW. Many of those guys are ex-
WRG players that may be enticed back into Warrior and others WRG type
systems through FW.

I myself, have decide to concentrate on Fast Warrior, because at this
stage in my life, I want to buy and paint many armies, and since time
is so elusive, I need to focus on systems like Fast Warrios shich
will allow me to collect many armies and to play several games in a
convention setting. I would rather play 6 1 hour games, than 3 4
hour games.

Here are the volunteers for the positions (at least from what I've read):
Scott and Jon - get tourney facts and format together
Patrick - contact con organizer and get those things set up.
Chris - organize terrain to make sure its available.

I personally am waiting on these finalized facts:
1. Scale - I believe we are doing 25mm.
2. Point base - FW, 1350 or 1600 (the later two prefered)?

I would like to get the scale pinned down. Not for myself, but for those
who are borrowing armies. We have the ability to prep people in the army
they might borrow to run - down here in DFW (25's or 15's). So the earlier
we know the better. I'd like to see a final determination by Wed 2/20.

Terrain, I think we are covered. But if people could email Chris, he could
double check to make sure everything is copesthetic.

BTW if anyone has the access to free plywood (in not so bad shape), I would
be interested in picking it up. My intention is to make 16 4'x5' boards to
take to cons so 25mm can not be hindered by improper table dimensions.

Dave,

Blasphomy! I am well aware of your work. I have your web page saved as a
favorite site. Your figures are stunning and I use them for much inspiration
and ideas. You go on painting, even if it means loosing a potential player.

Chris, Dave is saying he is *converting* to FW. How is that the loss of a
potential player? We consider gaining his playing time one of our biggest
achievements.
He has done a great deal for the hobby and we are glad to have him!!

Jon
