I will say that when I get more time I will be putting my own full HCon
comments here, but it was extremely gratifying to see the number and quality of
players and the overall quality of armies in Warrior games at the con. Gave me
renewed energy to see our project serving so many so well.

Jon Becker, attending his first HCon said it best - and I will paraphrase -
"I played nine great games of Warrior against nine great opponents. Such a
difference from GW events where you have to walk on pins and needles to avoid
your opponent screwing you out of a win with a low 'sportsmanship score'.
Instead I could relax and play and enjoy myself."

:)

Jon

>Lemme take this one step further, several of our sportsman nominees were what
I'd call "upper tier" players which means the two aren't mutually exclusive.
The winner, John Chriss, was one of the younger players but he got downright
glowing comments from those around him and those who played him.

Hey, it's easy for John Chriss to win the sportmanship award. He will
be going to Tech this fall and pulling tall, blonde Texas chicks like
nobody's business. It's hard NOT to be a sportsman under those
conditions. :-)

Ahhhhh, and I noticed his Daddy, Bill "Fantasy Boooolshit" Chriss,
found the love and joy of the Paleologian Moogy/Knight army. Must
have been that 168 that factored up when the moogs hit his Greeks two
weekends ago.

It sounds like everyone had a blast, and congratulations to this
years NICT champion!

G

P.S. I feel that having people lust after my figures is at least as
important as winning games. What we try to do around these parts, is
help the new guys get nice armies together, by helping with figure
selection and holding painting classes. This makes a huge difference
for new guys.

>Yunno, I'm glad you brought this up. John Chriss is one awfully good looking
guy. Nobody read anything else into that:)SmileSmile But yes, college babes are
gonna be lined up outside his door. I'm bitter.

>So that's where Mr Chriss has been these past 5+ years. Well, now that he's
back amongst the living, maybe we'll see more of him. And yes, some of his
"peltasty/auxiliary-eee" units were interchangeable between hoplitey greeks and
byzantiney greeks but not too bad:)Smile:)
