The JLS along with L can only be used as a missile weapon. See 2.32.

Hmmm....
I'm at work, without access to the rulebook, but this got me thinking.
How about the rear rank element of a 2E unit charging, armed with L
and JLS? Would the rear rank throw their JLS in support shooting? I
assume that they would not get the +1 for using JLS, since it can only
be used as a missile weapon in this case - or would they?

Nope - that would be against those rules you don't have with you...lol
JLS cannot support shoot out of a moving body whether they have L or not,
whether they are on foot or not. The only weapon that can ever support shoot
while moving is B.

Correct.
