Mike,

This was an interesting report. Thanks. But let me ask you something
about your list. How do you figure that you can: A) Get 3 elements of
lance armed Greek cavalry in an army with only Spartan generals?; and
B) upgrade them to reg B? My reading of the list is that only Achaeans
can buy this combo, and that Spartans can neither arm their cavalry
with lance, nor upgrade them to Reg B, which is as it should be
historically and one of the primary disadvantages of going Spartan in
this list. This cavalry deficiency balances off the superiority of
Spartan close foot morale and other goodies. Likewise, choosing the
Aitolian or Achaen option would have its own benefits and
countervailing factors. E.g., the Aitolians get Irr B or Reg B JLS Cav
(no lance) and good irreg foot, but have to take at least 12E of Reg C
hoplites. This is one of the beauties of how Bill and Scott
constructed the list. Each sublist has its own flavor. Anyway, glad
you made it down. Sorry we didn't get to play.

You are correct -- it was a mistype of the list when I made up the AAR. On
the actual army list I used, the General's element is Reg B. The bodyguard
element and the entirety of the second cavalry unit were Reg C. I apologize
for the error.
