Hi,
I have a question about the charge requirements for Irreg A troops under
Attack and Probe orders. I have consulted the orders rules and the line
appears to outline that for both orders, units containing irreg As need to
charge impetuously (unprompted) when possible. For me, there are 2
possible ways of interpreting this. Can you please confirm which of the
following is intended.

1. The unit must charge (impetuous) on every occasion and does not need to
be prompted for this. Even if the unit is a shooter and would normally
require prompting.

2 The unit must only charge when it can do so unprompted. IE it is the 1st
charge opportunity for non-shooters or their opponents are unsteady etc.

Thanks
Paul

Is this the case for units that only have a single element of "a"s?

Just for abundant caution

Yes, the rule is 4.51 and says bodies containing any irregular A.
