1. This has nothing to do with pivoting or lining up, and therefore,
nothing to do with my answer to Mike's question.
2. It speaks to where a unit fits during the execution of a wheel.
3. It will get better wording in the new rules.

Jon, I'm confused, and must be missing something.
6.111 says:
"Wheels are performed at a specific point. As each element reaches
that point, it performs the wheel. Columns will not "whip" about."
And I checked the errata as Ewan suggested, and found no amendment to
this section.
Given this, there seem to be many situations where there will
be "bends" in units. For instance:
A 4 element unit of Irr light cav in column goes into skirmish, and
then wheels 45 degrees.
Since it can only wheel 40 paces, the front elelement would wheel per
6.111, leaving a bend in the unit, as the following elements would not
wheel until they reach the position of the first element when it
wheeled, which they cannot do in that tactical move.
Since your statement directly contradicts this, what am I missing?
Thanks
Cole
