I like where you're going with it.
I'd lose the shieldless LMI B and an Irr LC or two for more LTS B and LI.

6 Stands of the bowmen are required, can be D or C and
can be LMI or MI, The other way I was going to take
them was:
Militia Bowman 1E, Reg C, MI, B
Militia Bowman 5E, Reg D, MI, B
so lose the:
2 Militia Bowman units
1 Malgal unit
1 Militia Spearman unit
add

2 Militia Spearman
Militia Spearman 1E, Reg C, MI, LTS, B, Sh

Hey, it's good to see Darren "Rowdy Roddy" Piper from the good old days in
Kileen. Where are you at (anywhere close to Texas?) and are you playing
Warrior?

Im living in the great state of Idaho were gamers are
more than just scarce. I have bought all the rules
and army lists, bought the rules for 2 others and I
have still not played one single game. I am getting
desperate enough to get an airline ticket and fly to
Texas to actually play a few games. Maybe Hcon one of
these years...
Sucks to be me!!!!!!

Good Morning Darin, and it's very nice to see you on this board.
For anyone that doesn't know Darin, he used to be part of the old TOG
7th group in Texas, and is no novice to be sure.
I'm assuming this list is for 15mm, so my comments take that into
account, and are important to the scope of the comments.
1. Buy Another General
I think two generals works fine if you are an army with a wide
variety of troops and lots of flexibility, but feel it really hurts
you in 15mm when those conditions don't apply (as is the case for
this army) and you are forced to deploy your last command while the
enemy with three generals has a command left to deploy. You are just
asking to have your task force of spearmen deployed opposite a bad
matchup (like something that can pin you), while the enemy gangs up
on your light troops.
2. I agree with Jon, that you need more light infantry. You are not
good in terrain, and will probably get stuck putting light infantry
in terrain. With only three units, that may mean you have no light
infantry operating in the open with your light cavalry. Consider
taking one of your three units, and splitting it into three, two-
stand units. This gives you something expendable to pin with.
3. I would split the Regular LC into small units. I think they would
be far more effective this way, as you would have more of them and
they would fit into smaller places.
Question to you ... what are trying to do with this army? How do you
see the battle progressing, that would lead to a victory?
Thanks ... g

*****I have a hard time with most lists getting 3
generals due to the cost of them. To add a Sub to
this list it would cost me 125 points, then comes the
question of what to give up. 1 whole Militia Spearman
unit or 1 Light infantry and 1 Mongel Skirmisher unit.
To me the loss out ways the gain..****

****Some Questions in response to 2 and 3. What do
you think of Reg D LI? If I changed the LI to D's
this would free up 48 points
which would allow me to split 2 6E LI units to 3 4E LI
units and to add an additional 2E Reg B Mongel
Skirmisher to the army. This would add to units for a
total of 20 and add 6 more scouting points.****

****Tactics, tactics, you know thats a secret (lol).
Well since I have not played any real games I would
hope it would go as such...CinC cmd hold/obstruct
middle/1 flank sector of the battlefield with the 2
EHC units slightly behind to counter breakthoughs and
to give Spearman line a little offensive punch/clean
up ability. Cav to most open flank try to dominate
then roll up flanks, the Malgal LC should give me some
help, the combination of LC w/L is pretty wicked. Let
me know what you think/suggestions. Any Ideas for
figs?

The general only costs 35 points.
If you added a general to the Kwanggun unit below:
-He would cost 60 points.
-He replaces a 15 point Reb B EHC, L, B, Sh
-He eliminates the need for a ten point command factor.
60-25=35 points.
Absolutely go with the downgrade to D on the LI. You then need to
tinker and decise if its better to use the points to buy
another "real" unit or split existing units. This depends on you as a
player. I like a few two-stand units, since I generally get them
killed anyway.
I think your tactical thoughts are good ... I sort of thought you had
something worked out when you posted this. Just a few general
observations on Warrior over TOG7th, that you are more used to.
The army lists are MUCH better in general ... I would say more than
twice as good on average than what we had when you lived down here. I
don't think a narrow focus on a "killer" troop type gets you as much
play in Warrior as it did in TOG.
I would try to get your unit count up, and work for flank shots with
small regular light cavalry units. There are many more three-to-a-
frontage fighting light cavalry units out there, and you will
actually be one factor lower against JLS armed, like Huns and
Scythians.
I'm against cutting the shieldless LMI units. It would be great is
they had shields, but of course they don't. If you are going to fight
a light cavalry battle, you will have to have them. I think I might
be inclined to buy them in 6E units (perhaps one unit, perhaps two)
and keep them at long shooting range, or I would leave them in 4E
units and put them in tag teams with a small LI and small Regular LC
unit.
Essex must make figures for these ... they make figures for
everything, don't they?
Thanks ... g

My only comment Mark is this: You should alter the Spearmen
units so that they have Pavise in the front rank, shield in the rear
rank.
As it stands, if you should choose to fire your bows, you become
shieldless MI, which gets shot at a factor of FIVE by bow.
Assuming rolling even, it only takes 16 figures of bow armed
troops to make you stand halted or waver test. It only takes 24
figures of bow to disorder you (-2 Hand to hand factor). Assuming
you deploy 4 wide and 2 deep with these 8 element units, that is NOT
going to be a hard number of figures to bring to bear - 2
skirmishing 4E reg LMI units of bow, side by side, will bring 24
figures of bow to bear at you, and you'll be shooting back at a 3
(2, + 3 for shieldless MI, -2 for skirmishing).
The Pavise does for your close order foot what skirmishing does
for the loose order foot - provide a -2 shooting factor (cover in
this case). And it won't affect close combat - steady LTS never
counts shieldless in the first round of combat, and if you have to
recoil, you can exchange ranks with the shielded LTS,B rank in the
rear.
And best of all, it doesn't cost any points!
Get the Pavise - personally, I prefer bigger LTS units, precisely
because disordered D-class troops are a BAD thing - but for your
smaller units, the Pavise is pretty much mandatory if you plan to
shoot those bows at all. And if you don't use the bows, then you're
better off using one of the Chinese lists that get Fire Lance.

Asif Chaudhry

Hey thanks for the idea I never thought of using the
pavise in the front rank and the shield in the second,
and being able to exchange ranks when following up or
falling back can help, I guess i just do not want to
push....
