Could it be written better? Sure - and it will be in the 2d printing.

2HCT without a list rule is one rank.

So I interpret that to mean, If I have a front rank of 2HCT, and a second
rank of 2HCT, both ranks fight at full, effect if the first rank is eligible to
use that weapon. >>

No.

So I've been playing (and also winning, I'll just add) with one rank tied

No, you have apparently been playing correctly.

That also means that 2 ranks of SA,Sh both get to fight, and 2 ranks of Bow
also get to fight as other infantry. I never realized this. I fight a lot of
Greek guys and all they ever have is spears.>>

No.

In a case where my second rank is CB, they cannot fight because they use a
different weapon.>>

No. Ranks beyond the first for missile weapons is handled by 8.7.

Ok, I want to start a new thread because it seems like we are really on a new
topic now.
Bear in mind that although I've read the rules, I rely perhaps too much on
veteran players that ought to know more. So my friends tell me I can only fight
in one rank with 2HCT, but I reread the rule just now and got the following out
of it;

9.22 Ranks after the first.
figures of an element directly behind another element of their body already
entitled to fight may also fight with the same weapons...

So I interpret that to mean, If I have a front rank of 2HCT, and a second rank
of 2HCT, both ranks fight at full, effect if the first rank is eligible to use
that weapon. So in the woods, or any of the other circumstances that disallow
2HCT, I fight with only one rank of other infantry. In any other circumstance
where the front rank of 2HCT is entitled to use that weapon, the second rank can
also fight because they are also armed with 2HCT.

So I've been playing (and also winning, I'll just add) with one rank tied behind
my back.

That also means that 2 ranks of SA,Sh both get to fight, and 2 ranks of Bow also
get to fight as other infantry. I never realized this. I fight a lot of Greek
guys and all they ever have is spears.

In a case where my second rank is CB, they cannot fight because they use a
different weapon.
