Scott,
I had asked a long time ago, maybe a year or two, about the Spanish
military orders (Calatrava/Santiago/etc) with regards to the Feudal
Spanish list.
I believe the question was something to the effect of how these
troops were represented within the list since there are no troop
types that explicity mention them and nothing referring to them in
the notes for the list.
Perhaps I do not have the background to unerstand some of the
terminology used in the list items and maybe I am missing them? Or
perhaps they are considered as part of the other knights?
Just guesses, I obviously have no idea which is why I am asking.
When you have the time between cons (but hopefully, please, not too
too long) would you jot a note about how these troops fit into the
army list?
Thanks,
John

Uh, yes there are, at least the Notes refer to the three great
military orders. There is an implied connection, however, to those
orders in the line item of the list:
Hidalgos, Crusaders or Mercenary Cav
and then another implied (if you know the history) about the upgrade
of that line item to Irr A as Hermangildas.
Thus, the short answer to your question is that the Military Orders
are represented by that line item, specifically the Crusader name in
the line. And the upgrade to Irr A could also represent the
Military Orders.
We didn't think that the Military Orders in and of themselves needed
a seperate line item for a troop type that would be identical to the
above line. However, we could have probably added one line into the
Notes text saying "Military Orders are represented by Crusader Irr B
mounted" or something along those lines. I'll put that in my list
of things to do down the line for army list tome currently with the
working title "Warrior Armies". Or perhaps stick it in erata next
time.
Hope this answers the question.

Yes, that answers very nicely. Thanks, Scott. I was just not
familiar enough with the history or terminology to grasp the
connection.
