As I stated earlier I have a 25mm Medieval French army that I am
going to organize for Warrior and have kicked around the idea of
painting up one in 15mm as well. (I must like that army as that
would be the third time I have painted it up in 15mm in the last 10
years)

My second 25mm army is Galatians...but that's a whole other thread!

I think the ability to feild meaningful amounts of light troops and
the large numbers of rough terrain clearers has really "fixed" this
list and made it viable in open competition. Does anyone agree?

My question before I go re-basing 25mm figures is this: what is the
best option for the potentially large numbers of Brigans this list
can have? The old sheildless LTS armed HI were horrible, so the
numerous option they have now is a real treat....and something of a
delima. Loose order or close order? LTS or 2hct? SH or PA?

My first inclination is to run them in units of 18 with the front
rank being LHI, 2hct,Sh and the back LMI, JLS. With a Sacred
standard close at hand this could make for a nasty impetuous
charge. However such units would be terrible vunerable to cavalry
and the second round of comabt would destroy them in most cases. I
suppose largish units of HI with 2hct and PA might make for
good "mobile terrain features" in order to channel enemy movement as
well.

What do you all think?

I normally run them as HI,2HCT,Pa, MI,Jls. It gives them the option
of fighting 1/2 a back rank if you are not steady, and allows the
back rank to fight impetuously. They were very effective the last
time I ran them that way. Knights and Elephants don't route you on
contact most the time. If they are supported by knights and missles
they can run over most other infantry.

Martin,
I would suggest that you consider running them as the LMI version with
shields and use them as terrain troops. If you want the best open terrain troops
of the period, I suggest using the Scottish Yeomen allied troops. They count the
full first and second ranks for combat purposes and swat knights like flies!
