<<Jon,

Just a reminder that I'm still waiting for an answer on whether or not the
Roman
generals on the Marian list when mixed with Macedonian cav produce a unit
that
fights in 1 1/2 ranks when charging, counter-charging, or pursuing.

We have nailed down a text on this and Scott will add it to the website
shortly. The bottom line is that to get a 1.5 rank list rule out of a body
that
includes a general, the general has to be the same nationality and armed the
same way as the troop line that gets the 1.5 rank list rule. For your
specific example, then, the answer is no (roman general, macedonian cav).

Jon,

I don't really see how that's going to help, even in the case that started this
discussion. Few army lists specify the nationality of any generals other than
ally generals. So in effect, you're saying that most generals are ineligible
for list rules.

To make this all work out, you need an additional clarification somewhere --
probably in the "General Concepts" section of the army list books -- that says
that unless otherwise specified, a general and his bodyguard are of the
nationality of the army list being played. Most of the exceptions to this (the
Spanish on the Feudal French list, the Scottish bodyguard for the later French,
etc.) are already spelled out in the lists.

The above is true.
