I said all ELEMENTS will have the same morale. There will certainly be mixed
morale UNITS.

What about Irregular troop types that have IRR B or IRR A in the front rank for the purpose of keeping them eager. This is not sleeze by any stretch of the imagination, but rather an excellent historical simulation of putting the better guys in front for the good of the whole unit.

The idea of using all the same moral is fine, providing the list writers ensures that the highest possible moral is used for the entire unit. Frankish armies, etc ...  leap to mind.

The second I hit enter, I realized that Scott said ELEMENTS, not UNITS!

My apologies!

Before we all go off tangentally here, the original question was about
breaking up morale grades within a *single* element. Nobody said anything
about mixing morale grades in units as being sleeze or not allowed. Let's not
read more into a question than is there. Believe me, lists will still be able
to mix morale grades (as appropriate) it's just that everything will be done
in *elements* not figures.

*Clmbing down off pedantic soapbox*

Also, the "list writers" is me. Yes, various bodies will have some input
during the drafting process (for example, Paul Georgian is writing all the
Byzantine lists, still waiting on the Maurikians, Paul) but as Jon is the one
taking the hits for the rules, I'll be the one taking the hits for the lists.
So please, call a spade a spade and say "I'd hope that Scott ensures......."
And Frankish armies don't have particularly great morale outside of the
cabalarri:)Smile:)

And of course I replied to your first email, then read this one after I'd sent
it. I hate the internet.
