Greetings,
Well, we held two Ancients tourneys in Monterey, CA this
weekend. A 25mm Warrior Tourney and 15mm DBM Tourney (at the same time).
*smile* . . . we had more Warrior players ( than there were DBM
players (7). And, at dinner afterwards at least one of the DBM players was
talking about painting up a 25mm Warrior army (and asking questions about
how well different armies handled).
We played at a local game store using 1200 pt lists on 6' x 4'
tables. And things ran pretty smoothly even though most of us were not
very experienced with the rules -- at least you can find things when you
try and look them up.

Glad to hear everyone had a good time and more importantly, you could find
things in the rules:) Over the years I've grown to prefer the Mini (1200
point) format than the 1600 point format. 3 hour games seem to have a better
pace to them I guess. I'll be curious as to how people like Fast Warrior with
its preset lists of about 700 points each. In fact, that'll be a great way to
get into the game without an attrocious initial investment in lead and time to
paint it. Moreover, we've found that armies that generally suck in 7th have
been downright brutal in FW.
As a commercial reminder, the first army list book, Biblical Warrior, should
be out in a week. The rules themselves, by the end of the month. I'm about
1/2 way thru the second draft of the next army list book, Dark Age Warrior
which should be out at Cold Wars. Before then I should begin work on Holy
Warrior (Crusades, etc) with an aim of getting it ready for Hcon but that's
probably a bit optimistic on my part. Another reminder, the Hcon Theme
tourney next year is the Bronze Age which will dovetail nicely with Biblical
Warrior. Currently I have the "old" lists up on my web site which would be
allowed for the Bronze Age Warrior tourney. Obviously those will change and
I'll post that stuff next month as well as a list of what army replaces what.
Again, anyone running a tourney is free to allow any army lists they want. I
will say that any tourney I run will allow "old" lists only if they haven't
been superseded by Warrior lists which is why I'm cranking on these "new"
lists.
