Come on Jon, lighten up.

If the action by the player follows the written letter of the rules, and
it is not the effect you wanted, change the written rule, but lets not
spiral down into name calling.

Calling people names because they follow the letter of the rules borders
on childish, especially as you wrote the rules. In one breath you tell us
to read and follow the rules exactly, and in the next breath you call us
names because we do. There are lots of quirks in the rules and how is
one to know if it is a quirk that you intended or not?

It seems that one shows good generalship to exploit quirks in the rules
that you are in favor of and one is a "scoundrel", or "rules lawyer", to
exploit the rules in ways you did not think of when you wrote them.

Frankly, I do not find the term "rules lawyer" an epitaph, rather it is
someone who has taken the time to fully analyze the rules as written.

So lets continue playing the games in at least a semblance of social
grace and leave the name calling to others.

Ed, checking your old email? What prompted the whipping out of this quote?

Sincerely,

My appoligies to Jon,

Doug asked a question, with an attached answer by Jon, dated 5/12/2003,
on :Ewan marching in circle

I did not notice that Jon's answer at the bottom was pulled from the
archives from Nov - 02 and I made the hasty, and erroneous, assumption
that this was a current comment.

Man! Drop out of the hobby a few years and come back
to find out all these Warrior practitioners acting
like a bunch of camp fire girls. What a relief to hear
there are still scoundrels! and knaves! amongst the
wargamers. I still fit the demographic!
