				| The answer, Steve, is at this time, the decision is made after counters and
retirements. We are looking at the issue, but have not yet decided to change.

Remember, all I have posted is the most current DRAFT. There are many things
still left to do with the rules, some of which relate to issues raised on
this egroup. I have been on the road the last three weeks and have not
touched the rules substantially since 26 January, but thought a fresher draft
was overdue and posted the best we have to offer until I can get back to this
 in earnest.

 Jon

				| Jon,

Got the new rules but I would still like to get this straight in my
 head.

If LI choose to Recall at the end of Retirements but manages to shoot
close or loose foot into disorder or the close or loose fail a waver
test due to being shoot, is the need to Recall cancelled? Please see
below for scenario. Note that I have been in this position in games
so it is a very real occurrence.

 Scenario.

Unit 1 = 6 elements LI. Front JLS, Sh. Rear B. (Byzantine Psiloi)
 3 elements wide x 2 elements deep.

Unit 2 = 6 elements MI. Both ranks B. No shield. (Selucid Arab bow)
 3 elements wide x 2 elements deep.
 Approach phase.
Both have approached and LI are at 40 paces to the front of the MI.

 Counters / Retirements phase.
At the end of Retirments LI choose NOT to waver but will Recall in the
 End phase.

 March phase.
 Both approached - no march.

 Prep Shooting phase.
24 MI with Bow shooting LI = 24@1.
At an even dice roll this equals 36 (3 cpf)to the LI

12 LI JLS and Bow shooting shieldless MI = 12@5.
At an even dice roll this equals 48 (2 cpf)to the MI.

MI throws down -2 for the shooting and hits the LI for 18. 1 cpf but
not enough to force them to Recall. (Rule 11.1)

LI throws evens for the shooting and hits the MI for 48. 2 cpf which
forces the MI to waver test as they cannot take options under 11.1.

MI are D grade troops and fail their waver test. Unit is now
 disordered and shaken.

 Questions.

 1. Can the LI charge?

 2. If not, why not?

 3. If LI cannot charge in this circumstance but must Recall, can they
choose to Recall "short" if not charged? That is, go 80 paces instead
of 120 paces on a "normal" Recall dice? I ask this as when I first
asked about LI vs close and loose at 40 paces, the comment was made
that LI would be uncomfortable being so close to troops in good order
and that's why the waver test / recall choice is made at Retirements.
LI would no longer feel uncomfortable standing within spitting
distance of shaken and disordered troops. This at least gives the LI
the ability to charge next bound (after counters / retirements) if the
MI don't manage to counter away.

				| Yo!! Robert, I know what you mean. It took me DAYS to get into the
files. I had forgotten my ID and password. I eventually, had to sign
up again using my School email address. I hope everyone uses my home
email ekollmer@... . The school one I don't check all the
time or have access to. The gentleman, who said you have to register
and get in, is correct. I found out the hard way,Yahoo 's help links
are not all that helpful either. That is why I had to reregister
 under another email.
Anyway, to the point, Do you still need a hard copy. I will send you
one. Let me know. Use the above email not the Tek2000 one.
