Scott--
Can you give us your thoughts on how the cutoff for the NICT will be made after
two rounds on Thursday?
Anyone with less than 5 or 6 points? Or will adjusted scores be taken into
account?
Tim

The "cut" will be based solely on base scores. The cut will be 6 points OR
anyone who won a first round game with a score of 5-x. I'll have a definitive
schedule out next week but it looks as if we're gonna go with a Thu and Sat
NICT.
Can someone have Rob Turnball and Dave Stier contact me regarding playing in the
NICT? I know that Dave doesn't play every year but Rob does and I've not heard
from either of them.
Thanks,
scott

Scott,
Just a question. The NICT is to be split between Thursday and Saturday? I
probably missed something, but why is that? Thanks.

Robert Turnbull indicated to me at PointCon this past weekend, that he cannot
play if we go Thursday-Saturday.

Please read the archives for a fuller explanation. Turnout is such that the old
3 rounds, cut, final round, tourney wasn't working for events that had more than
around 22-24 players (we had 30 last year). I *polled* last year's participants
and this year's (to date) qualifiers. Those results are in the archives. By an
almost 2:1 margin, the most affected player base agreed that an extended format
was necessary.
The Thu-Sat "split" is because of our committment to the Theme tourney on
Friday. We will do *nothing* to "compete" against that tourney, hence, no NICT
running across from it. Furthermore, the Theme tourney's always been a 1600
point event, not a Mini (1200) event and I don't want to change that (plus, for
instance, who's gonna want to play EIR at 1200 points?). That means no Theme on
Thu since we don't have time to run 3 1600 pt games that day.
See other email in response to Rob Turnball's about this. The NICT format will
be evaluated each year by means of polling the participants in the month
afterwards and then a follow-up poll of qualifiers (who haven't already been
polled) around the first of the year (give or take). If the most affected
player base wants change, we'll work toward that, just like what was indicated
for this year and a 5 round event.
Lemme add I have 23 people thus far who've indicated they'll be playing. Only 2
have indicated they won't be playing because of the extended format. I'm also
aware of several other qualifying events that will most likely bring in more
folks who are ready to play a Thu, Sat split (assuming they make the cut on
Thu).

Hi Scott,
Not meaning to open a can of worms, just missed reasoning in the tons of
emails flying about nowadays. I am working on the archives, of the 9500
messages
available when I started Warrior, I am up to 2150, so still some reading to go
:-)
