Scott's being a little harsh, and I can understand his frustration as the POC we
were given thought we were some kind of fantasy game....and none of the
resources we would need are available.
Of course demo games DO promote the hobby and the system, but I already do those
all the time and not something that in this particular case is worth the change
in schedule and the drive.
If something changes, I know I will be willing to listen, but they are decidedly
*not* ready for us down there and neither Scott nor I are into jury-rigged
events - too much bad experience there.
Sorry about all this.
You'll just have to come up to Call to Arms...
Jon

Believe me, FHE totally supports the idea of Warrior demos. Its just that I
already go to several cons a year (7- and adding one has to meet a very high
standard to make me bring it to the household council. :)
I also already have to fight with several con organizers for table space, etc.
and have NO intention of adding any more of that hassle to my plate. Whenever
would I write Campaign Warrior?? :)

I will still attend. Perhaps Tcon can become what Don described. Now that we
have at least one arm around the logisticla issues, we should start planning for
next year, with the hope that the whole KC/MO crew would plan on coming down.
With a year's notice Jeff should be able to allot space and tables in advance.
I hope that we have started something that can in fact grow into something of a
midwest tournament, sans the final turnout this year. I will be there, I am
pretty sure based on all the work Pat did on the terrain, he will show aswell.
We can talk more off line to firm things up.

I have just been informed that the only space available on Saturday at
Twistercon consists of 2 6x5 tables. "We" have been asked if we would
like to run a "demonstration game" instead. Therefore, I have informed
the Twistercon POC that we will not be attending. I think everybody
here has made it clear that Sat is the only realistic day for us to hold
this tournament since just about everybody needs Fri and Sun as travel
days. This is the first time I've ever had a regional convention say
they don't have room or tables but since I assumed they knew about the
table requirements three weeks ago and not last Monday, perhaps this is
not suprising.
There has been mass confusion over this event since the gitgo, much of
that having to do with a lack of direct communication with the
Twistercon POC (and that would be my fault). For that I apologize.
But, I want to make it clear that Jon and I had every intention of
running both Warrior and Fast Warrior at Twistercon and it's only the
lack of space on Saturday that's preventing this tournament from
occurring. This is well over a 6 hour drive for both of us and
"demonstration games" do nothing to sell or even promote this product
and as such, we just can't see going. So if you wanna play ancients,
you'll hafta avail yourself of the other gaming systems that will have
full tournament play at Twistercon.
Or contact the POC and "reserve" those important 2 tables to run a
"demonstration game". That's not even enough space to run a Fast
Warrior Tourney. Or, mug the people in the other tourneys so that we'd
have room:) :)

Please make sure you recontact Jeff today since my emails to him went
out only this morning and coordinate with him that somebody else (you
all) would like to use all those available tables for a demo game. I
simply made it clear to him that *I* wasn't gonna run one.
Don, thanks for your help. I'm extreeeeemely dissapointed that this
isn't in fact going to be a tourney since I really wanted some tune up
time before Cold Wars and to meet so many of you who have been a real
help during the pre-publication phase.
Late Hebrews will hafta wait until next time:( :(

When I started this whole Tcon thread. A demo was my original
intention. I
have worked with Jeff before, and thought he would be agreeable to a
demo.
The hail of email on this list was awesome and a tourny began to spring
up
(man I had visions of an annual event with attendance growing and
growing
and...oh well). I am surprised at Jeff's reaction as I have told him
about
Warrior before. Looks like we are back to a measly demo game. Sorry
more
horsemen will not be there (this will impact DFW attendance to be sure
as
well), but I think at least Patrick, Chris and I will still go. I can
not
speak for anyone else (and should not even be speaking for P and C for
that
matter). Jeff has already sent me an email asking if I would run a
demo. I
was confused by this, but now it is clear. We will represent Warrior in
the
best light. Patrick and Chris worked very hard on a 5X8 set of terrain
squares, so we will demo on a fixed board layout. It will look very
cool.
I am going to wait for P and C and the rest of DFW to make concrete
plans,
but Jeff will give a free admission or two to demo coordinators (given
the
labor put in the boards, I think free admissions should go to Patrick
and
Chris).

I for one will miss the horsemen (Jake will still be there?), but I would
not make a 6 hour drive for this either. We will meet eventually.

:)
>Let me add to that since I obviously misspoke earlier:) Demos
are great, but in the specific context of TwisterCon and my attendance,
it wasn't going to happen, particularly knowing full well we'd have a
good sized tournament that *could* have taken place. Nothing demo's the
system better than that and with Fast Warrior running alongside it, we
woulda *really* been able to demo the system in it's preferred
format:) :)
>Again, thanks to Don and crew for going and "showing the flag". If any
of you from the DFW area ever want to come to my place, lodging is free

Regrettably, Jake no lives in Connecticut and the drive is a little more than
6 hours. Sorry but I won't be there either.

A tourny with no Ho's! Well we gotta do something about that.
On a serious note. Will there be a dealer with copies for sale. What if we
actually attract a player and he wants a copy?
