Fellow warriors

Time is running out to get me photos to be put in the new rulebook.

I have some good ones, but not as many as I need and no 'battle scenes',
just individual units.

In order to have the best chance for publication, I need hi-res digital
photos of well-painted warrior-based figures fighting an historical matchup on
quality terrain.

The best of what i receive will get to be on the back cover. The rest will
be on the interior color pages. All runners up will be on our website.

I need the name of the photographer and the name of the manufacturer and
painter of all figs shown.

As soon as possible would be really good.

Mike Bard? Dave Smith?
Jon

Jon;

The only pictures that I could possibly contribute would be on the
smaller end (figure wise) of an engagement. Dust-ups like:

A Numidian raiding party (4E LI, JLS, Sh + 4E LC, JLS, Sh) vs. a 4E
Legion unit + a 4E Auxilia unit + 4E of LI Roman archers.

A German ambush of 4E LMI, JLS, Sh + 2E LI, Jls, Sh vs. a Roman
column of Legionaries.

A 4 or 6E unit (or 3 2E units) of Sarmatian knights (HC, L, B) vs. a
4E Legionary unit + carrobalista + 4E Roman equites alares.

An AD 69 scenario with balanced forces of Legionaries and Auxilia.

15mm- A force of Roman legionaries vs. a Gallic warband.

I can use my Roman villa in some shots, as well as my Roman marching
fort, and a Roman frontier watchtower.

My problem is with the backdrop. If you can get someone with photo
editing software, then I can shoot the scene with a white or gray
background, and then it can be edited with an appropriate and
realistic background.

Let me know if this will work.

Dave

Those are all good and a white, gray or light blue backdrop will be fine.

I've put a bunch up for commentary at
http://transform.to/~mwbard/historical/.

Are these what you're looking for Jon?

Most of these I got from Christian already, but there were some new ones
here. We will definitely be using some and when we pick the ones we will use
we
will check with you too to make sure we give all the proper credit.

Note that the bolt shooter shots are cool, but we can't use them as the bolt
shooters are not in a position where they can fire... :)

You are absolutely right, Mike - I was looking at a thumbnail. The actual
photo clearly shows the infantry are beyond 40p from the artillery. My
mistake.

Huh?

They're on a hill/rise.

There are no troops witin 40 paces of them.

8.7, Line 8: "Stone-throwers or bolt-throwers can shoot from a rise, low
ridge, or knoll, or from or to a rampart or hill, or any troops from or to a
tower, over intervening troops who are at least 40 paces distant from both
them and their target.

I'll bite: Why can't they shoot? Can you also please let me know which file
so that I can see what you're talking about?

The curious,
Michael Bard

No problem. I was just suddenly paranoid as I had a vague memory of
somebody saying that only stone throwers could overhead shoot...

Thanks for the prompt reply
