Just to elaborate a little on my last, as I dont think I articulated my
point as well as I could. Romans are, quite properly, anti-infantry killers.
hence Picts getting matched against EIRs would simply qualify as a 'bad
matchup'.
Which is fine. Your Teuts get paired against Classical indians , and its '
Well, bummer. We'll get 'em next round.' That's waht the 'weapon casualty'
chart is for. Fortunately, Picts won't see EIRs much, as they are dreadful vs
good cavalry. Another story for another day, but shows they are 'specialists'.
But the halberd is an 'all- rounder'. Designed to do ok whether against
infantry, cav, or heavilya rmoured foes. Not a battle winner against any in
particular, but never a ' Oh no- not them!' reaction either. So if the impetuous
charge is useless agianst someone who is good against everyone, that is very
different than a specific bad matchup. - Tom
