Ed,

I just got the flyer on Saturday. Evidently, according to the OIC, they don't actually know for certain until a few weeks out that the date they've selected will be approved. Talk about making things hard to plan for! I will be posting Warrior tournament details shortly...oh - April 20-21 Smile

Looking in the latest edition of "Spearpoint" I
don't see any mention of PointCon in upcoming
tournaments. Wasn't there going to be a Pointcon
this fall, and wasn't it going to include a
Warrior tournament of some kind?

I can probably make it back east for either
Pointcon or Fall In, and I'm trying to plan my
schedule. Anybody got any info on Pointcon?

Mark,

Usually the PointCon tournament is held in April at West Pt. NY. However,
there is a 15mm 1600 pt. warrior tournament Oct 27th at New Haven, CT. If
interested I'll send you more details.

To whoever knows
After reading all the posts on this group. It occurred to me that
Cold Wars is in April around the 17th??? Unfortunately, I never seem
to be able to get to it.However,my question is. Pointcon is somewhere
at the end of March into April. Will there be Warrior tourney at
Pointcon? If there is when is it?

One of these years I'll have to go back and show 'em how it is done.

Since I'm usually the umpire/coordinator for this annual event, I guess I
should step up to the plate. Unless PointCon falls exactly on the date of
Cold Wars, then yes there will be a PointCon Warrior tournament. I think.
Unfortunately, and I've discussed this many times to whoever is the current
Officer in Charge, the exact date of Pointcon is literally unknown until the
last minute. It seems that wargaming has such a low priority for use of the
facility that if nobody else is using it, then the convention is 'on'. This
is almost a direct quote. However, having run this for years now, I can say
that we've never been cancelled once the date is established, usually a
month out. Attendance is usually 12 - 18 guys. In the past few years I've
been running a theme I call Dogs of War. Basically, you are limited in the
point value of the A/B class troops you can take, and a large percentage of
D class troops is mandatory. Everyone who has participated usually agrees
it's nerve racking playing with lots of D's, but immensely fun when they do
well. Plus, from a personal point of view, I think having lots of D's is
historically more accurate than the uber armies played. There are other
provisions as well, but I'll provide more details later.

Tim

Thanks for the info. I know what you mean about last minute. One
year , long ago. I recieved the flyer the week after the event. I
missed it that year obviously.
Do you think you will run the "Dogs" again? "El Cid " is looking for
revenge. It took a lot of potions to resurrect him after last year.
Oh! I am still holding your two LC hostage. You still have my two
Greek LC. Should we switch at Pointcon?

And even more so than when I ran Point Cons 1-3. By the way, the official
date is 6 April, a Saturday.

Tim B.

Matt and I thinking about Pointcon. We're trying to come up with a
Dogs Army. Unfortunately, I lost the sheet that lists the points for
amount of "D"class troops. What are the specs for the army?
