This is almost as dumb a question as the one I asked about measuring
wheels but I just want to be certain I understand correctly.

I am re-working my terrain (or more like building new pieces) from the
so-called "somewhat abstract" rule system to Warrior.

Paragraph 14.31 on page 86 (feature choosing system - terrain feature
size and positioning) states:
"Other area features of an irregular curved base of felt or similar
240-520 paces across in all directions."

What exactly is meant by 'in all directions'?

For instance, take a somewhat irregular but more or less rounded
rectangle.

Is the maximum 520 paces measured across the diagonal (as I would
probably expect) or just between opposite sides of the 'rectangle'?

Is the minimum 240 paces measured only between opposite points (so if a
feature tapers towards the sides to less than 240 paces that is okay)?

I did not see this paragraph referenced in the 15 June 2003
clarifications.

John,

This means 520 in any and all directions. Make a stick 520 long, your
terrain may not exceed the stick (520) in any or all directions, no
matter how you position the stick. The 120 is the same but your
terrain cannot be less than the 120.

Eric

Eric, thanks this is what I thought but wanted to be sure as in the
so-called "more abstract" games I have seen folks (incorrectly I
presume but it doesn't matter here) just measure across without
counting the diagonals.

This one is still less obvious. For a circular or very rigidly
rectangular feature it is clear. But most features are more kind of
oval in shape in which case at the ends they taper down, maybe even
to a point, in which case they obviously can be under 120p depending
where you put the stick.

Like I said maybe a dumb question that most people know the answer
to but perhaps you would admit as stated, at least for the minimum
size, it is not entirely clear to the less experienced.
