Since I know next to nothing about knights, can someone enlighten me
on the cost/benefit ratio of SHK shielded vs. shieldLESS? what is
the consensus on whether to buy the SH?

Buy the shields Wink...why?

Dave Stier and I made sure our HYWE SHK were shielded. We were able to draw
away a lot of prep shooting with our longbowmen, however our knights were
still exposed to some. They also suffered some support shooting. Shields
mattered there...but the issue is a more complicated one of shield
application over time.

If you have a shield, it counts against prep shooting, then support
shooting, then in hth if you are fighting other mounted lancers, then in
later bounds of hth. It prevents you in a number of cases from becoming
tired or disordered too early.

Starting out losing with shieldless SHK against shielded is not what you
want either.

The only cases where I've seen removing shields work is when I have used SHK
in a purely reactive mode, that is, I don't have a lot of them and they are
going to be charging in only after an initial combat has occurred.
