Hi list,
I bought a game off the discount rack at babbage last weekend called
Shogun. It is an electronic version of the old M&B board game by the
same name. However, when playing it, you actually get to command
units in battle. And, now this is the good part, it plays like
Warrior. You have units of bow, two kinds of spear, sword (2HCT),
Monks (irrg A), mounted archers (LC) and mounted spearmen (HC).
Additionally you can get HG. The best part is your men can be in
close, loose, or wedge formation. You can order them to maintain
formation, attack at will, or skirmish. Also there are mongol
armies with more of the above, LI J/sh, firepot hurlers, and
crossbows.
Warrior Tactics work very well, and while you are playing a machine,
it won't just send units pelmell into your line. Very exciting.
Last night I defeated an army twice my size by sacrificing a bow unit
that I flank marched behind a hill, popped it up and shot into the
flank of his advancing spears who wavered. Then he sent two other
spear units after that skirmishing bow unit.
Look for it. I paid $20
