"If you only move the front rank of a unit, mark the position of units without a
back rank and CLEARLY state your intent to your opponent i.e. "I'm 40P Away" or
"This gap is now not passable", and show him why until he agrees, that is all
you can do to speed up games."

This methodology revolutionized my ability to get players and keep them in the
game. It is as responsible as anything for overcoming the 'problems of the
80s'.

Having been involved in tournaments for quite some time, as I'm sure other have, I can say that in my opinion all these house rules about take backs, etc ... are much todo about nothing.
If you only move the front rank of a unit, mark the position of units without a back rank and CLEARLY state your intent to your opponent i.e. "I'm 40P Away" or "This gap is now not passable", and show him why until he agrees, that is all you can do to speed up games.
Also remember that newer players need a bit of grace towards these rules. Things that look simple to an experienced player, might not look so simple to a new player.
Players that want to play slowly will play slowly. All you can do is kick butt, take names, and show them why their slow play is hurting their game. Does anyone know a slow player that is also a good player? I don't!
