A is a unit of SHC
1 is a unit of enemy LI 100p from the SHC
2 is a unit of enemy HC 150p from the SHC

there is room for the SHC to wheel and miss the LI if it counter-
charged the HC.

SHC declares an impetuous charge on the LI (HC is out of reach)
HC declares an impetuous charge on the SHC

what happens?>>

LI takes a waver. Then it depends on if the LI evade or stand. I *think*
you want me to answer based on the LI evading.... In that case, the SHC and
HC hit each other.

My guess (?) is that the SHC charge is cancelled by an enemy charge
outside its charge path (ie outside charge reach of tactical move
distance)>>

Incorrect. The HC enter the SHC charge path and so do not cancel the SHC
charge. The operative rule is 6.163, charge path, bottom of page 38, esp. the
first bullet.

but according to the clarifications the SHC may counter-
charge even though the new target starts outside their charge reach
(effectively just losing its impetuosity as well as the ability to
inflict a wver test on the LI)>>

No countercharge is necessary or possible in this case.

Jon
