Why not have a Fast Warrior Newbie Tournament?

Sorry for posting this on the general Warrior board, but I'm not sure
how to get ahold of just the SW Region guys.

We have the newbie tournament coming up in August, and have been
playing with the two 1200 point armies on each side of the table, as
outlined in the tournament rules.

We in San Antonio, feel that 2400 points per side is just far too
many points for these battles. We are also worried about what we will
do if we have 14 players, for example.

I'm looking for suggestions to send to Harlan, who is probably
reading this. We are bringing two new players from San Antonio to the
tournament, and they are both ready to play solo. I think Mike
Russell in DFW is also ready.

Perhaps we should just go to a standard format, or perhaps play
smaller point value, one-on-one games.

What does ewveryone think?

FastWarrior in situations such as these but a nice alternative would be 1000
point lists on a "mini" table. If there is one thing that potentially squashes
a new player's interest is dealing with the intricacies of loads of units while
attempting to master the basic mechanics of the game. Even at 1200 points, it
can get daunting, unless you're running a late Medieval tourney with everybody
playing Burg Ordonnance:) Smile

My suggestion,
One 1600pt army with the newbie required to handle (command) at least
800pts.

Guys, perhaps we all use FAST WARRIOR armies, and simply pick allies,
according to how much table space is practical, adding terrain, etc., into the
picture. It would be a whole lot easier. And probably more enjoyable for the
newbies.

I'm with you Greg as long as your "buying the Shiner Beer!" BTW, I'm having a
heck'uva time finding that brand up here in KC! Any ideas? For those of you that
don't know, Greg does some type of graphic advertising for several beer labels!
And Shiner is some of the Smoothest beer on the market!!! :)

This is a bang up idea IMHO. 2 FW armies per team on a 4X6 should be quite
interesting!

Comments on Team Fast Warrior type,
This also works well from a getting newbies into the game. One could just
bring an extra fast warrior army and pick one of the guys local showing
interest in the game. Heck, maybe Mike (of Lone Star Comics) could put a
sign up list out for interested parties. Probably makes it nice for them
not having to worry about 'making' an army.

I would be will consider a change in points from 1200 to 1000 points.

I think I would prefer to have the latitude of choosing my own options in a
1,000 points per person team thing but would consent to doing whatever the group
decides. But we should power match after the first round to keep things close
instead of what we did last time! :(
