We are holding a comp next weekend where the armies can come from the
Classical Warrior list, or any other Warrior list where the period
selected ends BC. 1600 points 25mm.
I am going to run a Chinese army, and searching for something which
can take on the pikes and hoplites expected to turn up (although
Sparticus, Gauls and Romans will also be around).
The Qin look most likely, as they offer the most balanced options.
Good cavalry (Reg LC B and rank and a half LC JLS, B, sh) with some
HC and a choice of foot with LTS or 2HCT in close or loose
formation. Along with lights with B and Reg 4hHch.
I am still struggling with the strike force of this army though -
there is lots of anvil, just can't see too much hammer.
Could people advise their thoughts on how they would run the foot and
chariots. Do they see the chariots as a strike force?
Would they run the foot as loose units of 16 or 24 with 2HCT and rely
on the HC and chariots to keep other cavalry away?
Would they run large units of LTS and CB, with the above attacking
the flanks of the enemy (most likely scenario to date)?
Any other thoughts? It is probably not ideal to start running an
army the week before the comp (see Jon's Han thoughts) but the
figures have come up well.

Muz,
Looking at the list, the "Hammer/Strike" units would
be the Select Troops (Irr A 2HCW, Sh) and the Guards,
ecspecially if they are LHI 2HCT, CB, Sh.
Looking at the Math, and I could be wrong here,
Chariots don't strike me as a shock unit, but as a
finisher (As do the Guard Cavalry). It looks like a
chariot unit would be better of causing unease to
enemy units near it, and then charging those units
that have already been disordered, perhaps by CB fire
from other accompanying foot units...
