OK after some rereading and pondering, I've come up with my final
version. I have one limitation and that is the troops available to
me, for I'll not be buying any lead for awhile. Thus the Ireg LC
rather than the HC as before, for example.
CNC and staff
2x2E RgB EHC/HC L/sh
1x2E RgB SHC L/sh
4x2E RgC LC B/sh
2x6E IrgB LHI 2HCW/J/sh J/sh
3x4 RgD LMI B
2x6E RgD LI S/sh B
1x4E IrgB/C LC J/B/sh B/sh
2x2E IrgA/B HC L/sh
1x4E RgB MI P/sh
1x8E RgC/D HI/MI LTS/J/sh B/sh
19 units
57 scout points
1599 points
Plan as before. Stall enemy line, strip a flank then turn it. Then
punch in with LHI and SHC at a vulnerable point for the finish.
The LHI start in 2E wide columns, and will most likely fight in that
formation.
I chose to give the HI J rather than D, as I suspect the mounted
won't bother with HI LTS anyway given the swarms of mounted on my
side riding about. I wouldn't have enough D to halt the enemy's HI
if he came within 80paces, so I figure the +1 in HTH would be of more
benefit. If faced with elephants, then I'm sure the rear rank of bow
will disorder/tire them sufficiently to keep the odds even.
The Change from Turks to Asiatic horsemen was to increase scouting
points, and because I think this battle will be decided by the
LC/HC/EHC interaction on the flank. When facing SHK or El, another
HC unit means nothing, but LC will at least be able to pin and
threaten quickly the enemy screen thereby limiting the enemy's
manuver room.
I had originally wanted the HI upgraded to EHI and forcemarch them to
a critical point, but the cost is just too great to give up any of my
mounted. Again the benefit would be negated unless facing shooters
because of the short charge/move rate.
I will not run the CNC as a unit so that I can intercept the Franks
when they rout :)
I think that a couple of 2E LC units and the LI can pin back most of
the center while the LHI/SHC move up and the other mounted strip one
flank. I plan on running in three waves, the first of LI/LC that pin
and set the battleline, then the LMI B move up to shoot as the LC/HC
start working a flank. Then after the flank has been turned, the
LHI/SHC move to a weak point and charge in (eagar Bs) followed
closely by the EHC to keep would be counterpunchers off the flanks.
Obviously I will be throwing all open terrain. :)
Conceptually elegant. Now let us see if my dice will hold for it.
